You identify long distance pigeons by entering them in long distance events. The birds that successful at the distance are your best birds. Long distance birds are never big or heavy boned. Smaller lightly built are the best for the distance races . Just like human athletes the marathon runners are light and of smaller build as compared to the sprint runners who are bigger and bulkier in build.

Your wrong .I Had a large big boned Blue Cock .who as a yearling flying 504 miles into a NE.Wind 13hrs 25 minutes on wing .2nd club 3rd combine. As a two year old topped the combine out of 4.700 birds in a NE wind.
