When it comes to great products we spend our hard-earned money on, we expect them to last a long time.
And nowhere is poor quality more apparent than in a man's leather briefcase.
A leather briefcase goes through a lot. It's one of the things we carry that NEEDS to be well made if we want it to last.
We also want it to look good, not only when we first purchase it, but even as it ages.
So today, I'm going to show you what to look for in a quality leather briefcase. When you're ready to buy your next one, you can easily identify what's worth the money and what isn't!

when it comes to hardware brass hardware (excluded zippers ) would be great as it patina naturally and can be refreshed though metal polished, It looks the best with brown leather bags.

short riri zippers are about 5 dollars. long riri zippers are 20-30 bucks. not sure how much they are wholesale

Really good video. What do you think of a lady using this as an everyday bag? Do you think it’s too manly? I want an everyday bag that’s good quality, simple, functional, has lots of pockets etc., which this bag seems to have.

Not at all! I mean it's definitely targeted towards men, but it's not overly masculine in design. It's really refined, so could easily be used by women.

it's a video about how to identify quality in a leather bag when you're looking to purchase one. i did use the same ledaveed bag as an example throughout the whole video, and i did talk specifically about this model when hitting on the 4 areas, but the info in general can be applied to any leather bag / briefcase you want to buy.

Fun fact: China export cheap quality oversee cause all those trading companies squeezed the labour fee per bag down to $0.5USD😢 those high end quality remains in China market for local people where labour fee for per bag up to $50 usd that those “big company” can “afford”

so, hardware, why didn't u talk about the nylon shoulder strap? oh wait, bcuz they sponsored this video! watch the ''high-end'' ones and u'll c they have leather straps, like in Tomford or Hermes. Montblanc is the same thing too, all nylon straps, over-hyped brands shouldn't be praised for skipping steps to make more profits.

I consider the metal hardware "hardware" in my description, but I hear ya re: the strap. Guess I didn't think about it. Straps are sort of an afterthought to me, though you're right I should've talked about that. I would've expected / appreciated a leather strap as well. I wouldn't automatically assume that just because they didn't include a leather strap (LeDaveed or any other brand) that their whole MO is like, "fuck the person who buys this, maximize my profits!!" I'm sure it's a cost benefit decision. At the end of the day, if what you're looking for in a leather bag is a leather strap, then this bag in particular is not for you. But you can still use the tips I pointed out in this video to evaluate ANY leather bag. You don't have to buy this specific bag from this brand to benefit from the points I made.

Like I mentioned, this video is about how to identify quality in leather bags. I never once said you have to buy THIS specific bag to get superior level quality. I never said this bag is the best in the world and you must buy this one now now now... did I? If, in your opinion, that brand you mentioned is better in every way, then that’s great. So many misinformation… 1. You can totally visit the factory in China yourself. Patricia Nash for example goes to China 4 times a year to make sure all her leather bags are made exactly to her specifications. And yes she always uses full or top (ones that need embossing) grain leather 2. Genuine leather means real leather, there is no such consensus that genuine leather automatically means not full or top grain. In fact all my made in Italy bags and even jackets, all full grain, use genuine leather mark. It’s translated from “Vera pelle” 3. Not having full grain doesn’t mean your bag is lower quality and vice versa is true. Some top grain leathers are much better than full grain. They are top grain because they need to be buffed to take in the color and effects. Such as crazy horse leathers or Horween’s chromexcel/cavalier. And then there are suede bags, which of course not top grain, and have you heard of shell cordovan? The most expensive (non exotic) leather? Also not top grain 4. I’ve had plenty of experiences with made in Italy bags that are actually not on par with made in China bags. It all depends. One of the made in Italy bags I have actually was made by an Italian family, quality was so poor all around you can for example see stitching corrections. I rarely see those with my made in china bags 5. YKK, or any of the Italian brands, is not the in all end all of zippers. My made in china double point corn teeth zippers tend to be higher quality than the regular Y teeth YKK zippers (corn teeth zippers are thicker so much more sturdy and looks way more expensive on your bags) on par with the Italian Y teeth, for a fraction of the cost. This is not only due to labor cost differences but mainly import costs. I can buy my zippers from factory direct. I can’t do that with the other zippers. 6. The best hardware is actually solid brass or stainless steel. Alloy is the cheapest metal hardwares. However we all use them because the other two don’t have many options in terms of colors. But you can of course upgrade them by buying thicker alloy metal hardware which will be very long lasting. 7. Lining: the best way is for bags to not have lining, but all leather. It’s not really feasible if you want many many pockets. Then it’s best to use leather lining. Any type of fabric lining will break over time but the benefit is many pockets, many colors/designs, and lighter weight.

BS, all my made in Italy leather goods use “genuine leather.” It literally means that the leather is real not fake. There is no such consensus in the field that genuine leather means it’s not full or top grain leather. You just need to have enough experience to identify the leather. And virtually all made in China reputable brands use full or top grain leather. At least all the ones that I know of and I know about the handbag business pretty darn well
