That is not quartz, it's probably calcite since rubies only grow in areas where the ground has little of silica and quartz only grow in areas where it's high in silica, Rubies and Quartzes do not in fact grow in the same area😊❤❤

Given rubies/sapphires only share oxygen chemically with quartz that would be a given. Ruby is chromium oxide doped corundum (alumina or Al₂O₃) crystal, and sapphire is titanium dioxide doped corundum crystal.

@@AbdelBENYOUSSEF Natural gemstones will always cost more because they are much harder to procure vs artificial which can be flux grown in a lab or produced in a verneuil furnace. Ironically the natural gemstones are more susceptible to damage compared to flux fusion artificial gemstones. This is because a lot of natural gemstones have a tiny amount of water vacancies in them that expands when the stone is heated, causing it to crack.

Depends what sapphire you mean. Typical blue sapphire is corundum (Al₂O₃) doped with titanium dioxide. Rubies are corundum doped with 4-5% of chromium oxide. The chemical difference changes the way the crystal structure reacts to light.
