FYI capenter ants in the home can be a warning sign that moisture is getting into the walls or outside wood somewhere, as they will set up a satellite nest in you wood if its' moist.

Good job and information. To the general public. Termite inspections and reports need a different license. Not all home inspectors carry the additional license needed to do the wood destroying insect / termite inspection and reporting. Don't turn away a good inspector because they don't have the license and don't assume all home inspectors can inspect and report on termites. Many home inspectors carry the license to do home inspections and termite inspection. Keep up the good videos Chris, you do a good job.

For dry wood termites, using an IR sensor has been a huge help. Especially when needed if to locate their galleries in the insulating foam people are getting in their crawlspaces and homes. We use it for subs too if we get a tough infestation we can’t find (which is rare but does happen.)

Depending on the chemical used but most commonly you need to trench to follow the requirements

Yes, it shows up in the same spot after I clean it. And I did see pin holes in 2-3 places, but my furniture is laminated and the hole are seen on the laminate. I have some pictures, of the insect as well, how do I share it with you?

@@neethapanicker5096 this sounds almost like powder post Beatles. Look up their frass and see if matches. They could have come in with the wood of the cabinets. [e-mail] for pictures.

A couple days ago I noticed a dark object close to the ceiling in our bathroom, above the door. I thought it is some kind of black butterfly, so I decided not to bother it and let it fly away next day. Next day I saw several other "butterflies" sitting on another side of the same wall, which is our master bedroom wall. They were also located above the same door to the bathroom. I decided to remove them with a rag and let them fly outside. On the removal I saw that they are not black butterflies, but some kind of black stuff w/larvae inside. I also noticed small holes in the drywall, about 1/8" X 1/4". I decided to patch those holes next day w/ a spackling paste, but next day I saw that the black mounts came back (they are like small mounts perpendicular to the wall), 8 of them on the wall in the master bedroom, 1 hole in the bathroom above the door and 1 on the ceiling of the bathroom, like 1 yard to the door. I started to do a research on youtube and fortunately came across this film. I looked outside (it is a brick wall) and didn't see any signs of activity, so I think they are termites which got into the wall. The larvae bugs have a bit orange on the head, 2 black bugs are one w/wings and another without them. I'll take the glass container w/them to HD store for identification, but most likely they are termites. While I was doing research and drinking coffee (like in 2 hours), the mounts were formed again. So if I pour some of the granules of the Termite Killer into those holes would it be sufficient treatment? The granules will fall down and the termites are located closer to the ceiling (I even think they might come through the roof, bcs previous year we had some trees cut near that bathroom, maybe those bugs were on the brunches). I think maybe now I need to spray the roof in that area w/some liquid termite Killer, like the Taurus SC. Thank you very much for the informative film.

Even a home inspector who lacks the WDI license can report of “damage suspected to have been caused by WDI, recommend that a professional WDI inspection be performed to confirm.”
