Thanks Buzz your setup tutorial is the best out there by a zillion. My setup is dual T16000M and I’m loving it. I have however hit a snag and I’m and not sure how to correct it. So, I’m very new to SC. I have gone through the mining with handhelds and the ROC and I have now ventured into salvaging with my newly purchased Vulture. Everything was going well. Managing to scrape for RMC, fracture hulls and disintegrate. But then I went to carry out a spacewalk so that I could move the cargo from the salvage ship onto mine, but when I entered space from my ship I instantly froze and could not move in any direction or look around. My breathing motion was still visible, just no movement or looking around. I tried using keyboard and dual joysticks, but to no avail. The only way I have found to get to work so far is to reset all controls to default and then spacewalk works fine using keyboard and mouse. I tried setting up my joysticks again, but it sucks when it is not your setup. Hoping you may be able to help me out. Cheers.

Just wanted to comment and say first you sir are awesome and I love you. Please know you are loved by so many people. A potential error you guys might run into. If your modifier key is not working just force quit joy to key and re open. It is the only thing that works for me!

Excellent video, and excellent grouping of the binds themselves (conceptually); they all immediately make sense in my brain! I especially loved the way you've grouped the weapons on S1 and S2 for the triggers. I'm using VKB Gladiator Evo's and apart from some inversion settings/swapping the stick numbers around with the console code within SC, the only thing I noticed was that the pinkie buttons (modifier/decouple) were on opposite sticks to the diagram. Probably something on my end but super minor and it works for me anyway.

This literally saved me! Was getting into bindings and thought NOPE! gonna play something else. Then I found this tutorial! Thank you so much for all your hard work. I can confirm as of this 3.22+ bindings update there is no need to 'resort joystick numbers' and all bindings loaded correctly eg mining laser, primary weapon fire etc for the thrustmaster fcs HOTAS set up. First of all I just want to say thank you for all the hard work and effort you put into these key binds every update. As a community, we really appreciate it. That being said I just have one issue with the 3.23.1 update for the VKB's. When I hit the cycle camera view keybind it automatically puts me in free look mode too so when I move my left stick it will strafe left/right, forward/back and pitch the camera up and down and left right as I move it. I've already reset the bindings to default and loaded the new keybinds multiple times with no luck. Thanks in advance

That’s strange. Check your freelook binding. You may have to remove freelook from the stick.

As always, i love your layouts and all the work you put in. I have a few questions though. Firstly, sometimes when importing the binding profiles, certain binds are missing, have you been able to determine what causes this? Secondly, im curious as to your process for creating and maintaining so many profiles. I make a number of small alterations to suit my preferences which isn't too tedious as patches are rare but if you have a particularly clever methodology Id be keen to know. Ive been considering tracking the CFG files in github so i can visualize the diffs between releases and more easily focus attention. Finally, do you have an existing issue/feature request for native modifier support i can upvote? Has CIG ever commented on this? Thanks as always for your diligent work! What sticks do you personally use? Im on dual VPC Constellation standards with Z tilt and they're lovely with your configs as a baseline!

First off to the missing binds, make sure you follow the video and readme to the T. Wiping the previous bindings before importing mine usually fixes the issue. You can also try wiping the user folder and starting from scratch. I mad a few mistakes on the keyboard this patch, so if that's where your issues lie, reset the keyboard to default. Also make sure JoyToKey is working properly as there are several keyboard commands I use instead of the joystick bindings as they work better. The axis problem has plagued my bindings for years. They refuse to bind, so I have a section in the video covering this issue. I've asked CIG on several occasions if they will be add native support for joystick modifiers. They always say yes, but its not a priority. It's been a couple years since I last asked though, so I may have to do so again and see if things are changing. The current binding menu is getting buggier and harder to use by the patch, and it really needs an overhaul. I find I have to edit the XML manually for a lot of bindings. As for methodology, I don't really follow a single one. For the most part, I like to take the previous patch bindings and test them thoroughly to find out what has changed and what doesn't work anymore. I fix what I can, then tweak button locations to make it as intuitive and user friendly as possible. I like to group similar functions together on one stick or hat switch, or button bank to make it easier to remember. Then I do another test to make sure the new button locations are easy to reach, especially for critical functions like countermeasures that you need to access quickly. Sometimes I do experiment a bit with new configurations on my personal bindings. If these work well, I implement them into the public bindings. But I try to keep the changes to a minimum so people don't have to completely relearn everything between patches. But sometimes bugs or new features arise that force me to make more drastic changes. Personally I use my Virpil Alpha Primes the most. But when I'm on the road, I take my VKB's with me as they are much more portable. I've outgrown the T-16s so I only really use them when I'm testing new bindings for them. But they the most commonly used bindings by people so I have to be careful to test them just as thoroughly as my other bindings. I hope this answers your questions. Glad you enjoy my work.

Absolutely loving this set up for the T16000m. I bought my first ever dual sticks last week and the set up looked frightening until I found this, via a recommendation. Has anyone experienced an issue with the Modifier (left trigger) where it stopped recognising the mapping? I have checked the joytokey setup and all the bindings are still there when I test the buttons but in Star Citizen nothing that has been mapped to the trigger is functioning. Try running JoyToKey as admin. And make double sure the left trigger is bound to R-Ctrl. If not use the mirrored profile.

Thanks, amazing as always. In the notes you mention: Troubleshooting: 1. Make sure that you don't have any extra input devices connected when you start Star Citizen as this can cause the bindings to stop working. Disconnect these: Gamepads (wireless and wired), Extra Joysticks/Throttles, Rudder Pedals, One Handed Game Keyboards (Like the Razer Tartarus), 3D Mouse, or Mouse with analog joystick on it, etc... These are fine: Standard Keyboard, Standard Mouse, Track IR, Tobii, Game Glass, Cameras, VR Headsets etc... Have you heard any issues with Elgato Streamdecks?

I would like to add to your point about the z axis on the t16000. It will become shaky very soon after you start using them but there is a fix, lots of videos on KZbin but basically involves opening up the stick and putting some lubricant (wd40 or silicon) over the sensor. Seems a bit of a faff but it will be rock solid after that. Just in case anyone is on the fence because of that issue. It's very fixable.

Thanks a ton for doing this for us. I had an issue where no matter which slot I plugged the two sticks in it was showing my left stick as 1. I found out in the settings/Configure Joystick, Advanced tab I could specify a preferred joystick number and swap them out.

@@trell1011 make sure you put them in the correct folder. PTU for the PTU build and Live for the Live build. Also check your install location. Sometimes it gets reset to default after a launcher update.

Eventually they are code files (cfg, XML, txt...) Ouch, a windows "vista" dependency and not compatible officially with 11. I'll wait until CIG Implement joystick modifiers buttons.
