Cool! I thougt I was the only one doing the inhale - exhale thing. Exhale during bouncing, inhale on the toss and fast exhale on the hitting point... I even do the inhale-exhale thing on return shots. It just helps me get into focus and let's the arm tension out.
@NamesAreRandom3 жыл бұрын
Great tips on forehand - like you that's the side that falls apart for me. For me it's a lot about keeping my body weight forward, on my toes not my heels, hit in front not late. If it's all not going well I also start to think slow->fast, helps me not tense up and start pulling my shots. Don't like "push" as a thought as one of my faults is to start pushing not swinging. Also like the second serve idea - my normal thought there is better long than in the net. On returns I saw myself in your pushing the ball into the net example, what worked for me was starting with a forehand grip, but the off hand in a backhand grip so I am automatically in either grip without needing to think. That means I more naturally place the racket infront of the ball with the correct grip and all I need to do then is follow thru.

Karue, why do you slow your right arm down when serving after contacting the ball instead of letting your right hand follow through after contact to end the serve motion with your right hand closer to the left pocket of your shorts? I would think stopping your arm earlier would lead to a loss of racquet head acceleration and power/spin. Thanks! P.S. love the channel and seeing you and ATP players practicing and playing matches. P.P.S. It would be awesome to hear what you do for fitness (quickness and stamina exercises specific to tennis) and injury prevention for tennis (mobility, exercises for rotator cuff, knees, ankles…).

Hey, first of all great channel with a lot of interesting- and clear information. Why do many players choose the two hander instead of the one hand backhand and what are the advantages and disadvantages between the two strokes specifically during matches. In terms of consistency, energy consumption and positioning I see more advantage with the 2 hander but in terms of ball feeling, topspin and angle direction possibilities, I see the one hander as a more powerful weapon.
@N0DramaLlama3 жыл бұрын
Also the 2h gives more stability in the shot. Also a lot of coaches (at least the coaches ive known) usually teach a 2handed backhand to beginners since it's easier to learn than the 1handed. Think that's a big reason why many people stick to it because it's hard to switch to a 1h later on while switching from a 1h to a 2h is easier.

Another great video! I think a lot of intermediate players struggle adapting to the different tempo of a match vs. practice. A serve typically comes to you faster than a feed. Often the return isn’t hit back cleanly. You’re running to hit a volley (rather than having it fed to you). It’s a lot more herky-jerky than practice where you can get into a groove. Any tips (other than play lots of matches)?
