For scenario at 11:58, when running backward, do you recommend running toward up range, with gun holstered? or we should draw and keep pointing the gun down range? Thanks!

In general I do not run on the stage with my gun in the holster. I pull the gun as soon as the beep goes off, also when I need to run uprange. Depending on the position of the next shooting array I drag it behind me (for targets on the left) or on eye level above my shoulder (for targets on the right). I have a video on this topic: kzbin.info/www/bejne/hKK8cn6Fl9h8b7M Hope this answers your question.

Thanks: the question was really meant for starting a stage with all targets far behind you, which really doesn’t happen a lot. Will check out the backward move video.

@@ezhang128 OK, thanks for elaborating. I never run with my gun in my holster. Also if I'm down range and I have to run uprange to shoot targets. So as soon as the beep went off, I will pull my gun and run.

Hi sir… For scenario 14:20 , why engage the far target first instead of the nearest target on the right?
@ipsc-guru
@ipsc-guru 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Life of Koba, you're really studying the examples, great! If you turn a corner, we recommend to start engaging the target you see first (i.e the one on the right). As you continue to turn, the other targets (middle and left) become available to engage, again saving valuable time. If you would first get into the final shooting position, where you can see and shoot all targets at once you lose valuable time. Hope this is clear. DVC

@@ipsc-guru I had the same question now I'm watching this but I don't understand your reply :) I see no corner in the stage at 14:20? When you start in box A, you can see all 5 targets already, so why go for the ones in the back first instead of the 2 in the front first? Same question for the poppers at 16:20. From that position you see all poppers, no? So why start from the back towards the front instead of the opposite?
@ipsc-guru

Hi Stef, the big thing in the middle is actually a barricade, that creates a corner from A (yeah, I know, my drawing skills need improvement :-) ). I first shoot the far targets, the steels and then the close paper targets, so on the last close paper targets I can already start to exit the position backwards to gain distance and time. Same for the poppers, if I start on the last one, I can start to exit on the closest one. As a general principle you can save important time by shooting into or out of a position. Both mentioned examples are time savers by shooting out of a position.

Scaneario 16:24, why engaged the last popper instead of the first popper (the nearest)?
@ipsc-guru
@ipsc-guru 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Life of Koba, thanks for your question. The last popper is the "higest risk" (hard lean to weak side + furtest away) and we are starting from the A so we want to start moving asap towards the next shooting position whilst engaging the last popper (nearest and less risk), herewith saving time. Hope this answers your question. DVC

I'm interested to understand what exactly you consider to be "wrong", why and what you recommend? Looking forward to your views. THX.

1. Left -right shooting is hardly ever good tactic, always is better , couple of targets on one side,maybe moving and then on other side on the move. 2. Shooting backwards on the place you have indicated, you can not see targets downrange and if you can, the fastest way , depend of distance, is all the way up and from one place, since the running is faster and transition is faster from one place. 3. I didnt look video after

Agree that stages and situations can be shot differently, depending on your level, experience and division. The situation described merely serves as an example to demonstrate an overall principle, not as a how to shoot dogma. Thanks for sharing your views. Appreciated!

You have to realize that you can’t play according to these rules everywhere. Like in Germany, where you are not allowed to shoot when moving, only when you stop
@ipsc-guru
@ipsc-guru Жыл бұрын
Hi John, I've heard about this. Indeed, you always have to follow local laws and regulations. If you cannot shoot on the move, you can still gain time by moving efficiently (ex: in and out of position and in between positions) and getting yor gun up asap for fast transitions and splits.
