5:00 from what I remember Chinese coach explained to me that stomping while serving also hides the sound of your ball contacting your racket , the idea is louder noise means ball will come long quieter noise means ball is probably short but when you stomp it hides that sound making it harder for your opponent to predict the incoming ball
@Ruijia2172 ай бұрын
Exactly! Especially when you are doing a heavy/light downspin serve, the sounds are quite different.

I also keep saying that having a fast serve in your arsenal of weapons is a MUST HAVE ! I agree with all tips 100% especially the follow through, that is key for a well placed serve (in my opinion) ! Yes nothing like an HD video and sound - perfect Anders. As for the stomping (at the end) I believe that the sound dampens the sound of how much spin and speed you hit the ball. So it camouflages the overall execution. At your level, it's easier for you to feel if the ball is coming with little spin or very spiny for sure - without the stomping noise. It also adds a small percentage of distraction to the opponent, some players hate it when someone stomps all the time. 😆

One reason why some players stomp their feet while serving, is to prevent the opponent from hearing the sound of the ball contact on the rubber while serving. Brushing and hitting contact produce different sounds
@zenzero2777111 ай бұрын
Very good quality! A suggestion for another video: I am currently struggling with the consistency of my forehand topspin. When I make a video of me playing, it seems that I start with a closed blade and then try to roll over the ball, finishing the stroke with a low follow through. But I can't correct my movement, when I play a formally correct swing, the ball goes off the table or into the net without a good arch. I would appreciate a tutorial on this tip. Thanks Anders. Is a pleasure to watch you playing in tournament and your video tutorial are great! Cheers

Thank you so much Anders! Really accurate and useful advice, definitely gonna start implementing this in my practice later today. If possible in a future video, can you give us some tips on how to move after different services (or different receives), or in general what type of receives we can expect at amateur levels with different serves? Another similar video idea: what are some basic 3 to 5 ball-combinations to play (when serving short to an opponents backhand for example)?

Awesome video Anders! Very good quality. Thanks! For me personally, Iuse the stomp not only to give power and make weight transfer, but also to "hide" or confuse my opponent. In most cases they expect a long or half long serve after hearing the stomp, then they are out of ward when the serve is actually short. IDK, it works for me that way too.
@LoveHouseGreece11 ай бұрын
Congrats, i am a huge fan! Awesome explanation. It is very good that you are showing examples of wrong technique. Some coaches show only the correct technique or what they personally doing only. This way the student can compare it with what he is doing and understand his mistake. Keep it up!

Hey Anders, it was good getting to see you in Manchester, I saw you play for a bit in the fan zone when I went to watch the finals. Also, sound quality is really good now. For the serve video, someone told me one of the main reasons people stamp on serve is also to help disguise between heavy spin and no spin serves as some people use the sound of contact to help them read the spin. Anyway, this is good timing because I have been practicing my fast down the line this week as well (I played another left hander on Saturday which was nice because I managed to score two ace with it, unfortunately on the third time he got me off guard with a counter topspin, I think I recovered to close to the table like you said). Thanks for the video

The stomp is to disguise the rubber touch with the ball. Easy to explain with two serves: 1) Short serve with heavy backspin 2) Short serve flat but with heavy spin movement disguise With the stomp, you can't hear at the moment of the touch in the serve, if its flatter, you hear the wood, if its with spin, its more like a high arc topspin (very subtle grip). I also know that some players stomps his feet to transfer weight, or to disturb the opponent. Glad it can helps.
@Zindeo11 ай бұрын
I feel like its still here but not needed anymore, this was more true when you could have 2 red rubbers and 1 was antispin. + you could hide the ball when you did the serve back then. Nothing of this is true anymore, so I feel like it just lives on cuz people did it back then.
@orlandoescobar517411 ай бұрын
That's what I thought it was for. So the receiver can't hear how spinny the serve was

Other than contacting ball very close to edge of the table, I realized that i am able to generate speed with hitting ball very close to edge of the racket. It gave me more catapult with slower arm swing. Thus, I could do deceiving serves more. I don't know if it is a correct approach, though😅
