All my life I always skim because I can't really find the time to comprehend every single word but when I do, I always get high score when doing comprehensive exam. But the real problem now, I find it hard to focus reading books. I would read a sentence for few times before I finally understand it. It's really hard when you're not a native speaker

All the videos you have are wonderful but I recommend you make some of them shorter (no more then twenty to twenty-five minutes) because some people are very busy but want to comprehend all their reading at the same time. Thank you for the videos!

Many experiments/studies designed to see a persons ability to recall information based on different speeds of reading and they usually always come back with poor comprehension increases as the speed increases. There is no point in reading fast or being able to read lots of books if you didn't comprehend them.

Thanks a lot, it's working wonders! The only thing is, It is actually easier for me to read, setting the chunk size on 1 actually.. Isn't better to up the chunk to maybe 8 or 10? I mean, for speed purposes isn't trying to read a 10 words sentence in half a second harder, than single words?

I appreciate this and like videos, but this depends on upon the complexity of the materials and if one is familiar with the glossary utilized. For example: If one plays and watches baseball, the reading of certain terminologies will be easier; whereas upon, if one didn't, it would be arduous to read and understand. All that one would be left with is memorizing words and not even understanding the jargon -- a photographic memory would even prove futile! One needs to learn to learn -- and not just be a parrot. One needs to study his subject and glossary pertaining to his field of endeavor. Have you even wondered how one has the same "Good Book" and yet there is an unhealthy abundance of interpretations and misunderstandings? One also will need to ponder and reflex on this; hence, the reading should slow down in order to incorporate this into his purpose.

This is NOT reading comprehension, this is just speed reading...you cannot get comprehension from reading this way
@andersbjorkman8666
@andersbjorkman8666 6 жыл бұрын
This is not entirely true, many people have been trained, or conditioned to read slower than they are capable of, limiting the capabilities of their short term memory, they are underclocking the processer, or "mind", loosing focus, due to slow reading, which they have been taught. There are studies of this, and listen to Tony Buzan, he explains it in a good way. Faster reading equals higher comprehension for a lot of us, me included. Give it a chance, if it works for you, great, if not, all the best wishes, and may you find a method that is suitable for you. Happy Christmas and Happy new year.

@@andersbjorkman8666 From what I've heard the best reading comprehension someone has had with speed reading is 75% at reading 4000 wpm. Most people get much less comprehension. There is a limit to short term memory. Eventually if you put too much information into your mind, AKA speedreading you simply forget much of it. I believe in some of the techniques such as eliminating fixation on single words and viewing larger chunks of words or preferably lines. But when it comes to speed reading practically nobody is reading with equal or higher comprehension at a faster speed and they certainly can't recall as much information. The slow way I read I can recall much of what I read because I take into account the limitations of working memory and the fact that when you add too much information to the mind you simply forget or discard information automatically. I like Tony Buzan, but if he really did have high reading comprehension and could develop a program of lets say 85% reading comprehension with at least double your regular reading speed so say something like 600-1000 wpm he would label his products like that and people would flock to his products. But like most speed reading programs and products no promises of reading comprehension like that are made because most people's reading comprehension goes down unless you have some special condition or an extraordinary working memory.
