My dad was military he taught me situational awareness starting from a baby. He made me think it was a game, we'd go places and he'd then he'd quiz me during/afterwards and he'd ask me who/what stood out what I picked up on other people's emotions. He made it fun like we were on a mission or would just give me a reward after. He also would teach me hand to hand. We'd run through scenarios of what to do in the house if someone came in or at a store in public what to do where to go when do you wait and when do you keep running and not look back. I'm one of the people that can go somewhere once and be able to recall it. Parents teach your kids from a young age make it fun act like it's a movie or game they'll play along and it helps so much as they grow. I've had so many instances where I've been able to reflect back to my dad's teachings to keep me safe. Keep spreading the knowledge!

My father did the same. He was 82nd Airborne & an NYPD detective when I was young. He would have me do something called "NEOTWY - wheN, wherE, whO, whaT, hoW & whY" whenever we would get home from running errands. Stuck with me in my life & own career & helped me excel.

@@shelbytreadway587 the more you can make it out to be game like playing a movie character or just silly fun the more they'll get involved. Rewards help every now and then also, it doesn't have to be big just something small mine was staying up a few minutes later or getting to play longer with a friend. Be sure to tell them the good things that they picked up on. This also applies to directions. I'd lady down in the backseat and he'd have to drive around and stop randomly and I'd tell him where we were. Start small around very familiar places short distances and not a lot of turns slowly increase. It puts a different aspect to distance that a person never realizes.

Excellent video. The cellphone, in my opinion, is more dangerous than any actual weapon because it causes the average person to be situationally unaware of what’s going on around them! I am so sick and tired of seeing folks walking around in public spaces with their faces buried in their phones. They could be walking into a gang fight and they wouldn’t even know it until after the fact.

The LAST time I went Black Friday shopping, I was loading stuff in the trunk and suddenly there were 2 dudes, one on each side of me. I froze in shock. At the very same second, a guy shopper walked around the front of my car and caught them and yelled something but I don't remember what. And then he yelled, y'all good? And they said...yeah man, we're good. And they walked off, jumping in a running car a few spaces away. I'll never, ever forget that. Another time, an odd couple followed me into the dollar tree. They split up like they weren't together and the guy kept looking at me. When I went to my car, a felt someone on my heels (a third person) and I spun around to a hooded guy with braids hanging out. I yelled, back tf up off me! He started cussing me out but kept going and jumped into a running car with that weird couple and they drove off. I was so shook, I called the popo dispatch when I got home but they said no crime happened so nothing they could do.

Still stuck in Virginia. I have been blesses with knowing what is going on around me. That being said... That doesn't mean I quit thinking about the "what if" factor. You have to be vigilant with practicing it. You jave to keep looking at everyone and everything. Even if people think you are weird for doing it. In Manassas Virginia I had a Starbucks that I would go to. The female management thought I was a weirdo for staying until they closed every night. But I would sometimes only show up an hour before they closed. The reason why is because there is a lot of MS13 in that area and a group of 3 muslim guys that would hangout past closing until the women left the store. I showed up late one night because I was taking care of my grandmother as well. She had dementia and Alzheimer's. It was a rough night for her so I had to stay until she calmed down and could go to bed. Well, the 3 muslims were there as normal. They were giving me bad vibes for the past few weeks. I showed up just as the girls were locking up and the guys were talking crap to them. The girls looked really scares. I always jogged up there and jogged home. So they never heard me coming. I rolled up with a knife in my hand and asked what the problem was. The muslims tried to talk crap to me saying they weren't afraid of me. I told the girls to get to their cars and I would handle the guys. The manager ran to her car and called the police while I stood my ground. They were all talk. The cops pulled up with lights on and they kept saying I had a knife and that I was the problem. The manager ran back up and told the police that the other guys always treated them like crap and that they had actually threatened them this time. She told them that I showed up just in time and was protect the girls so they could leave. The cops did nothing more than tell the muslims to leave and not to come back. Then after they had left the cops and the manager thanked me. I told the cops that I had been watching them for a while and knew something was going to happen and that was why I was always there at closing to protect the girls. The manager started saying she was sorry. I asked why. She said that her and the other girls thought I was weird for always looking around while I sat outside and staid until they left. And now she understood. I got coffee for free for the next year or two until I moved. They started having at least 1 man work every night. You have to stay FROSTY TRIBE. You never know who you could be saving. This only 1 of my stories. Still stuck in Virginia.🇺🇸🤠🇺🇸

I'm glad you covered this topic. I've seen things on the news that astound me. For example, a man in I believe New York was stabbed to death by a deranged individual He came out of a restaurant with a woman companion and they sat on a bench for a moment. There was someone on the sidewalk about 50 yards away, kicking over bikes or motorcycles and then headed toward the couple. The couple get up and start walking towards the crazy person and the man was stabbed to death. This couple had a lot of warning that this person was nuts. They could have gone back into the restaurant, walked in another direction, crossed the steet, etc. Instead, they walked towards the danger. There have also been several instances where someone leaves a bank and is followed by criminals and is robbed and sometimes killed. People need to learn that they need to put away their phone and keep an eye on what's going on around them.

Ive seen peoples names being called repeatedly to go back for their appointment and after 4 or 5 times of saying their name, they look up like "huh". So sickening. Which is exactly what happened in the city where my husband and I grocery shop. Had it not been for the gut feeling, my husband, my husband, got from him it could have been a different situation than it was as the guy decided he wanted nothing to do with him. All she had to do was gas it and turn right to haul.a. away as she sat in the left turn lane, and at least 6 to 7 vehicles drove right next to this guy as they turned onto that street just feet away from him. Any time my wife leaves the house without me, I tell her "Situational Awareness" as she leaves. No one can maintain perfect situational awareness 24/7 but, if it's a principle you consciously focus on regularly you're going to be better off than someone who never considers it. Every time I walk through a parking lot, I make it a point to do a 360 scan of the parking lot every 50-100 feet. This is in case I'm being watched by a scumbag, he will realize I'm not the easiest target in the area.

Spot on in these days we are moving into. Always have that what if mindset going on. A lot of good reminders and if your memory isn’t the best carry a pen and paper to jot notes/information down. Good things to think about.

Thanks again, Jack! Some of my favorite videos of yours come across as both a reminder and a pat on the back.

Hi Jack! Man I love this! I actually practice this when I'm out in public but I just learned so much more from this video lol! When my wife and I go into a restaurant or a public place, I'm always sitting with my back against the wall! I'm checking how many exit locations, who's coming and going, just the over all " movement" and energy! I'm no expert at this but I'm learning lol! Great video, sir and thank you for the Intel! God bless you!

As I kid I grew up near a public housing area that was very poor, gangs and related BS. I developed awareness of who was around me or near me (like 100 feet or so) early on and something I've been able to keep with me. I'm rarely ever comfortable in public and I've definitely grown more anxious over the last couple years especially if my kids are with me. If I'm out with my kids and especially in the city somewhere I'm on edge the entire time. Going out has become exhausting.

I have always been a "people watcher" or at least thats what people call me, but you said it best, when i get a gut feeling i always get out of the situation as fast as i can. I should add this topic to my discord prepper group for a topic of discussion.

This is great. I'm horrible with remembering names. I sometimes think it's because I'm paying attention to everything else around/about the person I'm meeting that I don't really listen to what they say. I remember the visual details but completely forget any spoken words from those moments.
