Ive picked the accordion up again after 30 years. I started to learn at 6 and did till 14. At the moment my focus is the basics doing simple finger exercises left hand so basically 4th finger for 1 then 3rd finger for 3 and repeat. Then on right then on right hand going up and down the keys starting at c . So fings 123 then thumb goes under 3rd finger and keep going to bottom and back then up doing 3rd finger over thumb. Basic stuff the aim is to simply retrain the fingers. My thinking is master the basics then the harder fancy stuff i will have the skills

Thank you! And for the left hand you are hitting simply the root note? For example, exercise 3, you need to work up chromatically from C to accompany the right hand? :) thank you!

I found accordion drills particularly helpful for transitioning from piano to accordion, just to get used to the feel and size of the different keyboard. Thanks, happy to help😉 I use these 3 versions: 1-3-1-3-1-2-3-1-3-1-3-1-2 and so on 1-2-3-4-1-2-3-4-5-1-2-3-4 (or 1 in the end if you go for the next octave) This is weird one)) 1-2-1-2-3-4-2-1-2-1-2-3-4 (again 1st if you go up) I call it Balkan version😁 Good luck!

Thx, I recently started with warm up exercises, after 40y playing around without. Definitely feel a difference after some weeks, although I still struggle being systematical... Doing quality is a good point, unfortunately I can hear now much better my mistakes. Maybe you could suggest some exercises for the left hand, left-right synchronicity. Maybe his Excellency also explains how his left hand stays so relaxed regardless of bellow position...

2 weeks recap. I'v been playing the suggested exercises every day for at least an hour. I feel a difference in precision and control of my fingers, particularly 3,4 and 5th. Playing after the warm up is definitely more fluid and I see more efficient opportunities of finger placement, so I'm faster and more precise. Downside is, my arms are sore, apparently I use now muscles that I neglected before. However, this forces me to play more consciously of my arm position, which I guess is good. So I keep on trying. Thanks again for the exercises!

Wow! Happy to hear about the progress! About the sore, I have the same while practicing piano (the keyboard is harder to play on) and I do 1 min brakes when I feel uncomfortable. Good luck!

huhhh, it's already 4 weeks?? I start to loose track of time, miss things - like to eat, my train, physio therapy. Accentuation limits my speed, its like I reached a plateau of physical limitation, mainly do finger changes and the chromatic repetitions from kzbin.info/www/bejne/mnSYgHZtoNOVlac&ab_channel=VasylBendas I enjoy playing after warm ups, really makes a difference. thx again

Дякую за відео )сам граю на акордеоні,і був період грав ці вправи дуже довго,і якось не бачив сильно прогресу..Потім забив на це ,почав просто під час вивчення твору відточувати ці важкі моменти ,і якось легше)хоча буває таке що можу десь не ідеально зіграти якийсь пасаж )але акцент я быльше роблю на «звукоизвлечение» коли граю на публіці .Дуже багато акордеоністів і баяністів не звертають на це увагу ..

Завжди будь ласка :) Я б сказав, що такі вправи потрібні найбільше на початку, коли техніка ще не дуже сформована. Мені, наприклад, зараз такі вправи нічого не дадуть. Треба вигадувати щось набагато складніше і на той вид техніки, який відстає.

Hi Vasyl. Thank you for this. I started a year ago but my progress is really slow and I get a bit frustrated when learning new music. But I love these exercises as I think they are what I need if I aspire to play folk music by ear (one day). But you play them quite fast so I couldn’t follow. Do you have them written down somewhere?

For the free bass system it's easier, there are a lot of different exercices. But for the stradella bass I would reccomend to play scales (major and minor). Maybe later will record some tutorial about that.
