How to Increase PS4 Slim Storage using External Hard Drive

Hi, this video shows you how to use an external hard drive on your PS4 Slim (it will also work on PS4 and PS4 Pro). It shows you how to set it up and will hopefully answer any questions you may have. I also show it working on another PS4 (PS4 Pro) which is useful if you want to bring your external hard drive to your friends house and do not want to spend hours loading up a 40GB game over the internet.

Yes the ps4 does have a hard drive and if you run out of storage you can delete some of the applications especially the ones you have played. If you played a new game and it says there's not enough space you go to settings and then select storage there might be some captured gallery or save data. It's easier

The HDD does need to be plugged in to play the games downloaded to it, I just leave it connected to the PS4. Mostly my wife plays on the PS4 now as she justified me buying a PS5 as she wanted the PS4 :D

Very informative video. I just got the exact same hard drive as you and ran into some problems. Even when plugged in the PS4(original model) either a: not recognized it or b: gave an error and refusing to format it despite it fitting the qualifications. I really don’t know how to fix it, but after dis/reconnecting it a few times it began working. It finally allowed me to use it despite giving me the same error again during the reformat process. Very strange. Just putting it out there for anyone who ran into the same thing.

For those looking for a certain external hdd thats pretty good, use the western digital black. The prices are extremely good. They are made for gaming with a pretty nice 148/mbs. I got 2 tb for 60 dollars. Plus you could get 2 months of gamepass ultimate.

MOHAMMAD MOSLEH First of all, you have to put a space between the coma and the next thing you wan’t to say. For example: The foxes found out that Jimmy is gay, because he secretly used makeup at night. Basically comas don’t allow you to write 3 separate blunt and short sentences, but it allows you to elaborate. For example: Jimmy is gay, because he put on makeup. In this case “Jimmy is gay” is a stand-alone sentence, this means that it can be used without further information and it will still be a valid sentence. “because he put on makeup” is the sidekick it’s just a short comment which adds important information. Hi. My main storage drive on the ps4 is corrupt/broken.. and i need to replace it. Can i do it with an external hard drive? (to clarify; it boots up fine, but doesn't want to update and install anything on it)

So I replaced it

everytime I have tried to use it, it won’t format and comes up with error code CE-30005-8

Famous Dope I just gave up, cause my pe4 kept crashing and then it would take ages to get it running up again, I even tried it on my computer and it didn’t work so I think the problem was the storage device
