@@ralphsilva8146 If your landscaping is in place, I recommend you hire someone to drill 2 or 3 strategically placed drainage holes through all hard pan layers (I'm assuming you have hard pan -that needs confirmation) down to sand, if possible. Then, biologically till your soil with our Penetrate-Liquid Biotiller and/or our Blend. Infuse your soil with life- that life will loosen and aerate your soil. We have quite a few videos on our channel that cover this. If there is no landscaping in place, I would recommend the same as above, plus rip or physically breakup the soil via ripping or mini-excavator, etc. If you give me specifics as to size of your area, specifically what you are growing and your specific location in Fresno, I'm happy to provide exact recommendations. Thanks for your comment :)

How much dolomite lime do I need to get a 5 gallon bucket of soil from pH of 5.2 to 6.2 pH? My soil keeps acidifying and then ALL bloom I'm FIGHTING to try and raise it but the runoff keeps coming out at 5.2-5.5 pH when the water going in is 7.3ph. Help!

If the pH is above 5, I combine organic limestone with our Blend and our Penetrate Liquid Biotiller (lots of beneficial soil life) to raise pH permanently. I'd use about 1lb limestone in a 5gallon bucket of soil.

I got a garden that is 30 ft by 40 ft. Over the years, I’ve tilled soil amendments into it. Every year I put out a good selection of vegetables. I finally got some time and decided to test my soil’s ph. I did it all over and noticed it’s around 5.1. What would be a good ph for basic vegetables? I also decided to test all over my yard to see what it’s ph is throughout. It the same as my garden. Thanks
@JohnandBobs
@JohnandBobs 2 жыл бұрын
5.1 is good for Blueberries, but a little too low (acid) for most vegetables. I'd use a good quality limestone at about 20lbs per 1,000sqft in order to raise to 6 or a little higher.
@teunlll
@teunlll Жыл бұрын
Besides i think it could be helpful to stop tilling at the point where organic material in the soil is sufficient. You will distrurb the soil life which is on fo the most most important parts of the soil.

Hey Kevin! I'd use a good quality granular limestone that should work pretty quickly. You can probably find some in your local area, or online at Arbico Organics. Let me know if you have difficulty accessing it. Thank you for the question!

OK I have had problems for years now. Hope you still monitor this post. My water tested at I would say 7.5/ very blue. So I figured I needed to lower my PH. BUT I then ran the same water through brand new soil and the runoff comes out at 6.0? Very yellow. So I actually need to raise the PH. These are 15 gallon raised beds. I have heard baking soda will raise PH too. So I need to add limestone and then test the runoff till its' right?

pH of 6 is actually excellent! Don't worry about modifying your soil pH, instead focus on infusing your soil with complex beneficial soil life. 6pH is quite complementary to all appropriate efforts to build really healthy, productive soil. -John

Hey my friend, i try to increase the ph from my peat soil, dolomite lime doesnt work that well for me, if i add it to my soil slurry it barely increases the ph .. my soil is already double heavy than bagged soil and hits a high EC 2.5, its a mixture from worm compost, old high N soil, fresh peat , a low mix of ammendments including dolomite lime and some perlite :c im right now at ph 4.5-4.8 and need to hit atleast 5.6-5.8, i started with 3.5 peat, 5.8 old soil, 6.5 worm castings - If i add more ammendments, the soil will turn dark black and super heavy after a while with way too high EC ... I just want to raise my ph a lil bit without changing the EC anymore

Experiment with different forms and textures/consistencies of limestone. Try to find very fine agricultural limestone or very fine calcititic lime since dolomite lime isn't working effectively.
