I'm mid way through editing a 20+ minute long video composed of somewhere around 200 individual clips, with transitions, effects, and 4 audio plus 4 video tracks, and I just realized that, due to my computers lack of power, I've made the transitions far too quick, because the preview was taking too long just to play so I didn't have an idea of how the video actually looked like. Now I have to redo all transitions, but you've saved me from an monumental amount of work. Many thanks indeed.

Once again a simple and straightforward 'How to' video that explains something that had me stumped, very clearly. Having subscribed I'm going to have to look at many more of your excellent videos. I might add that your speaking voice is clear and easy to listen to and follow. Keep it up.

Just discovered your channel and subscribed. Your video is excellent, straight to the point, shows one how to do what one wants to do without any nonsensical and pointless extras that some KZbinrs seem to think we need. No pointless graphics, annoying music or silly gimmicks. I love Shotcut but often forget how to do things, your video showed me what I wanted to know in just a few minutes. Thank you.

How do you separate the audio (i.e. music track) in order for the music or narration to continue, but there being a different picture/video arrangement? Do I right click on track, click on More, and uncouple audio? Or is there something better? Thanks so much Joe!!

Excellent work, Joe. Always to the point. How do you undo a transition once you slide one clip over the other? Thanks.
@joe_cullen2 жыл бұрын
Hey, sliding one clip over the other creates a pink X area. That is the transition. Click on that to change the default fade. If you mean when they are on seperate tracks, thats more limited. You can add the filter 'Fade in Video' and 'Fade Out Video' but transitions that use both clips need to be on the same layer. Hope that helps!
@joe_cullen2 жыл бұрын
Oops, mis-read your question. Heres the actual answer: select the transition and delete. Drag the edge of the clips back to their desired location (dont move the clip - extend the clip). Hope that helps a little!

Hey, is there any easy way to mix 2 videos 1s by 1s? I mean first second - video1, 2nd s- video2, 3rd s- video1, 4th s - video2 etc.

Hey, sorry I'm not following. If you want to expand on your explaination further, I can try to assist.
@ЕвгенийКондратьев-ь3о2 жыл бұрын
how did you manage to divide your video into chapters by the timecode. I made timecode, but the video is not divided, and I have watched lots of videos on it, I do not know what is the problem
@joe_cullen2 жыл бұрын
Hello, the timecodes are done on KZbin, not in Shotcut. After you have uploaded your video to KZbin you type out the timecodes in the description, and it will add chapters. If you look at any of my videos with chapters, you will see the timecodes and the format it needs to be in to work.... For example; 0:00 Introduction 1:00 Next Chapter 2:00 Final Chapter

What I don't understand that I don't see anywhere is how to keep one video in the background as the main video, then have another video playing while simultaneously keeping a photo on screen 100% of the video. When I add a second video I can no longer see the second video playing although I have 3 separate tracks. 😞
@joe_cullen Жыл бұрын
Hey, you either need to resize the video playing on top (i.e. make it smaller so both are visible) or add the filter called 'Opacity' to the top layer, and set it to something like 50%. Hope that helps a little (PS. sorry for the slow reply!)

I have a track with 5 video clips. How do I take clip #3 and move it between #4 & 5?
@joe_cullen Жыл бұрын
Hey, best thing to do is move track 3 to the end of your time (leaving a gap in the middle). Then move clip 4 to where track 3 used to be, then move the end clip back into position 4. So you've swapped 3 and 4 around
@joe_cullen Жыл бұрын
And to answer your question exactly: click and drag to move them around :)

I am a total newbie to shotcut or video editing in general. I watched your video, but I have no idea what you were actually doing - aka what the finished clip looks like... 😞
@joe_cullen Жыл бұрын
Hi Anna, thanks for your comment and hope you are getting to grips with video editing! This video describes a very specific action in Shotcut, if you are looking for more general learning then it wont be great to start here. I have a playlist that is designed to help build understanding of Shotcut kzbin.info/aero/PL1kUsYhOMreuC1tY7OWp_iGspRzRQoH_V or you might find another creator more to your liking! I wont be offended :) goodluck!!
@annachino3602 Жыл бұрын
@@joe_cullen Hi Joe, thank you for your reply! I was really overwhelmed yesterday and was just curious as to what you were explaining :-) the playlist looks great! What I really like about your tutorials is that they are short and down to the point! That's why I clicked on a few of them in the first place and found them really helpful. All in all I wanted to add a video to an image, since WPS and PPT didn't let me convert my presentation incl little videos into an mpg. So I thought "can't be this hard", right? And then I stumbled down the rabbit hole 😂 But I managed to work out how to add an image as a video layer, then add and resize a video and convert it into a lovely video with nice quality. I apologize for my tone, my being tired got the better of me. Keep doing what you're doing! (and maybe add the finished clip at the end for an enhanced aha effect 😉jsut a recommendation) Have a lovely day, Anna

Hi, I'm just using demo clips in this video and didn't export the video, so there is no final result. However, I dont think this should stop you from using the tools demonstrated. Let me know if theres something not working for you and I can help :)
