If you are playing fjordur and having a good time then hopefully this helps you out! This will show you how to get a hold of the fjordhawk which is an awesome new ark creature! This will show you all of the Fjordhawks important levels that you need to focus on! And how to quickly help yourself into getting one powerful beast! This will show you how to insta tame one!

If your holding a sword when your next to the tamed ovis it gives you the slaughter option and it takes more hits to harvest the body, its how we farm mutton.

You can also do it with two low level Ovis plus one Elixir and that should do it. Cause who has a Ovis with 8000 health without using cheat

Oh thank god there is a much easier way to do it, when i tamed my first one it kept flying away into the water and it took me a long time to get it back onto land just to increase its taming by like 6% each time

To Avoid any confusion, yes the potion works for 30% on this you have to spam it right when it starts eating. Next on official no one will be hitting 7k+ hp on Ovis anytime soon I’m at about 2k hp myself. However it’s still very doable I tamed two hawks. Next a little tip you can also use the potion on your babies to get 30% imprint. Hope this helps and leave you with less confusion and a little info. Also I’m seeing golem Method is patched “idk if that’s true” but I’d avoid golems.

Hawks will not eat the pets we kill on our server. Guessing it has to do with one of the PvP/PvE settings. I tried killing pet rex with both S+ gun and shotgun. In either case the hawks are not interested in the corpses.

i had the same problem kill a small animal and drag the dead sheep onto the body of what you killed

@@ericshirley89 Thank you, worked perfectly. You can even cover the small animals body with a foundation and the hawks won't eat it and just keep putting dead ovis around it.

@@ericshirley89 This worked for me. Didn't even have to kill a very small creature. Just needed to have ovis corpse near by and ready to drag. Killed Para, then dragged ovis corpse between hawk and para corpse. Thank you for the tip!!!!

Managed to find and tame an Ovis pair, bred them as we needed the wool. Then bred 2 more for fjord hawk. Very lucky as we came across a pair of hawks, so dispatched Ovis 1 and then Ovis 2 and bingo - one lvl 42 hawk. Sadly out of Ovis, spent an hour chasing the local wildlife with our argents to tame the other (I can’t remember how much it ate; 4+ trikes, 5 parasaurs , several dilos , 3+ carbonemys, a carno and more!,!) got him in the end lvl 4😂😂

the sheep is unique in the fact that it takes more hits to harvest the more hp is has. No other dino in the game is this way they will all harvest in 3 hits or so. Fjordhawk tames based off of drag weight the sheep only works ok because of the number of hits to harvest it.

Is there any way to prevent the effectiveness from going down? because at a certain point in the video when the Fjordhawk was eating the first Ovis, the effectiveness had reached over 90 but then it started to go down every time the Fjordhawk ate, the same thing happened with the second Ovis, since it started eating the second Ovis the effectiveness only decreased

A rock golum will grant it 100% effectiveness, but they need you to either some how kite one over to where the hawks are (or vice versa) and kill it, or go through the whoel deal of taming one only to kill it. From what I seen though any level rock golum will work. Not sure if this is a bug to be fixed or not but it's how I got all of mine. The golum body will also never go away as they cant reeally 'eat' it so you can insta tame whole flocks so long the body don't de-spawn.

ive tried killing ovis a bunch of different ways, the hawk wont touch them at all. it dive bombs it, but no hit marker sound, and then it goes back to flying around me and ignores the body. (It’s only worked once for me) what to do differently for consistency?

She’s lying to you it’s always about the size; and second the amount of xp from the Dino is what determines the effectiveness and the overall health/ lvl is what gives the amount of taming

I wouldn't worry about effectiveness that much. Really you don't even have to worry about level tbh b/c they all have the same ability and it doesn't matter if they're level 5 or 150.

Teach u say u r on 1x but really u need to just go and check this stuff on official and compare ur stats. Sheep don't have anywhere near that hp on official. You must have changed other settings to have sheep that high. Ppl on my server can get away with maybe 5 BRED high hp sheep - never just 1.

So after testing with the current patch (as of Jun 20th), Rock Elementals no longer work on taming them (at least with the S+ gun), and they ignore Ovis bodies if you slaughter them (vanilla) or use S+ gun. My server is PVE and I haven't tried PVP settings with killing Unclaimed Tames. Otherwise, good luck trying to get a max level Hawk with good taming effectiveness :(

Sounds like your problem is the S+ gun then. I killed my own tamed sheep with a standard bow and arrow and it worked fine. Probably still works fine with golems too.

@@erndeche1475 Are you PVP or PVE server? I can get why S+ doesn't work, but I feel like the Slaughter option for Ovis should work, because that's vanilla. But I guess they coded the fjordhawk to respond to things that only die from projectiles/melee.

@@erndeche1475 nope, im on pve unofficial. Took 15 sheep to a flock of them, killed a few with SS gun, killed a few with shotgun, kill a few with sword slaughter option. Nada Thought maybe it was a problem with releasing the Ovis from dino storage so used a normal cryo. Nada. Tried carrying a fresh tamed ovis without ever putting it in a cryopod or dino storage to the flock. Nada. Not one fjordhawk landed to eat. Got pissed and shot a nearby wild Bronto and they all rushed it tho. Also killed one of my X rock golems as well as a tamed bronto. Nada.
