Mark Thomas! Hello, and my late wishes for a Merry Christmas to You and yours! Looks like you had a White Christmas? Good solid video. Should help a lot of DIY’rs out there. Had to chuckle @ 01:21. “Came out right where I planned it!” I know you know your stuff, it just made me laugh! Really good way to get through that vinyl, in those cold temps! Awesome job, and that M18 Fuel drill made it look easy. Not a fan of the drill, but it is a beast. Latest Gen drill? take care! Happy New Year to You and yours, and to all you fellow tubers!!! 👍👍👍🎄🎅🎁😊

Hey George, Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you! I'm using the M18 4th generation drill, which has the auto-stop anti kickback feature. I'm planning on venting my other bathroom out the roof, but I may wait till spring for that project, unless I have time next Tuesday with 57° weather. I know the freezing weather will move in after that and last until March.

I'm thinking about adding and extra stainless steel 1/8" screen to the bottom of this vent. (To keep pests out). Would you recommend anything else?

What is the outside height from the ground to the outside duct?

Looks good. Any concern with heavy snowfall possibly blocking that vent?

The east side of my house is protected from snow drifts, so I'm in the clear. I am considering a roof vent for my other bathroom. I don't know if the warm air from that room blowing out would melt the snow or not. I guess we'll find out.

@@MarkThomasBuilder Thanks good. I think I see a similar situation over here, but not sure if there's enough space to work a vent to the wall.

Why did you use an adjustable 90% for your extension piece ? Why not just use a piece of 4" duct attached to the vent housing ? IMO those Adj elbows are weak and break very easily. If that was all you had I would have at least wrapped the gores with foil tap or band it with strapping. I never use Adj 90% Elbows on a Dryer Vent they tend to collect lint and could be a fire hazard. For exhaust perfectly fine. JMO

@@MarkThomasBuilder I have been a Tinknocker for 32 years. When installing Dryer Vent Duct on industrial jobs Hospitals Apartment complexes etc etc. We use a Foil Tape that has a Butyl Tape backing. It is super sticky and wont leak. Because in an industrial setting the Duct runs tend to be longer than in a Home or residential setting. This helps hold the Duct firm and not have any Zap or Zip screws poking on the interior of the Duct. Witch is a No No because of lint catching on them. I was installing a Bathroom exhaust in my Basement thru a 4" Dryer type vent. So I stumbled onto your Video. You taught me something . I used my Heat Gun to warm my Vinyl Siding before I used my 4.5" Hole Saw. So for that I think you. My Dryer is on the 1st floor of my house. However the vent for our Dryer goes out the Sill Plate in our Basement. I moved the Laundry room from the basement to the 1st floor after my Wife had a Knee replacement surgery. So I did not want to have another vent hole going out the side of the house up higher off the 1st floor. I just ran it to the existing basement outlet. So since it's kind of a longer run. I installed a Inline 4" Dryer booster fan. So it keeps the line free of lint. Thanks again for the Siding Tip and sorry for my bad grammar in advance. LOL

Interesting tips you pointed out there. I never thought of an inline booster fan. I recall one of my new home building projects and we got knocked down by the inspector for the dryer vent line. They needed proof from the owners manual that our line wasn't too long. We found in the manual that we could only have a few turns over so many feet, like 20' I recall. We gave the inspector proof and got it approved. 👍
