I'm doing this now in a very small 1/2 bath. I'm an experienced Handyman - Homeowner. The place was built in 1986. I have faced almost every problem. 1. Wallpaper on the walls 2. The Old shut off valves leak 2. The floor is not level. 3. The Wall is not plumb 4. The wall is curved. 5. finding studs is not always straightforward, especially with plumbing in the wall. 6. The sink base and sink do not line up so that the flat surfaces provide a good gluing/caulking area. This video provides some basic knowledge but there are better ones out there. Give your project a try but be aware that you will likely face a few obstacles that might require you to watch a few more DIY videos or even make you think "I should have hired a professional." If you take your time you will get it done.

@@rmggng the bath is so small that I just did my best to keep the tile lined up where it is visible. I can't say I am 100 percent happy with the job. 😂😂😂 Its a parody. They were not serious. It was meant to be a joke. In car mechanics, to change a wheel bearing they charge $450 parts and labor. It is only a $60 part and you only have to unscrew 15 bolts. In reality a beginner it would take them 8 hours to change a wheel bearing if they are lucky. However, go on KZbin and watch a 15 minute video of how to change a wheel bearing. Do you see where I am going with this?

I wen to to Lowe's yesterday to get a bathroom vanity to take advantage of their bath savings event. Most of the vanity sinks were made out of a painted material they call "cultured marble". It's a bad quality material that doesn't last. You have to be very careful, because it looks solid, but when you tap on it you can tell it's either plywood or plastic. I had to go somewhere else to get a vanity with a porcelain top.

At 2:36 you can see the placement of the sink is not against the wall and its butted to the window trim and is partly in front of the window. The outlet is behind the faucet. It still doesn't look too bad. Let that be a lesson in itself.

@Stanleyart9 жыл бұрын
+tga2848 I noticed that and it bothered me too. However, as Lowe's described in their response, this was one of their better problem-solving solutions without having to re-plumb the bathroom. To Lowe's, you've turned a *scary* project into something that looks fun, managable and is certainly less-threatening to attempt. Honestly I can't wait now to get started on my first of three bathroom projects. I think the hard part now will be designing the bathroom and picking colors and a vanity. (That's a switch!) I feel equipped! Thanks, Lowes!
@tga28489 жыл бұрын
+Steve Stanley For what it's worth; I learned something regarding the the typical vanity that's purchased as a complete unit. They're fine butted against a back wall but if you're going to put them in the corner (like the above video) check your wall for square. I found that my wall, from the corner, out 22 inches, there was a gap of nearly a half inch. It's a problem trying to hide that because you can't shave the top to fit and you can't fill the gap with calk. If I'd known this beforehand, I'd have picked a top that came with a matching corner filler strip. I've decided to move my vanity away from the offending wall, which means space is wasted.
@Stanleyart9 жыл бұрын
After inspecting my bathroom, it appears I'm in the same boat. An uneven, un-squared wall with a square vanity top that was shoved in place and a rather large amount of chalking used to compensate the gap. Whoa, never noticed that before. But, thank you for taking the time out to share this with me! I really do appreciate it. You certainly saved me extra work and I can adjust my bathroom design much easier! Again, thank you and much respect!

GFCI protected outlets can be installed this close..and the protection need not be at this outlet: this outlet can be fed by another that has the test/reset buttons (ie the actual GFCI outlet). While we are on this topic, verifying proper protection with the correct features of a GFCI is also required: you want a GFCI that when it has reached its end of life, that it permanently trips, regardless of grounding (ie an older home with open ground two-prong outlets).
