I think it's important to note that when using cement board as an underlayment, you should use modified mortar. The only reason to use unmodified in this case is because the Schluter Ditra system requires it.

I like to put ceramic tiles in my bathroom and replace the bathtub with a same size shower tub . what do I do first? rip the old tub out put the tiles down tile also under the new tub? or don't I have to tile under the shower tub? should I remove also all

Tile layout is not optimum. Should not have two thin strips of tile on each edge. To correct this from happening, the "center" reference line should be shifted by the distance of 1/2 tile width before starting to lay tile

RLSgardener shower floor bit different; depends on what you had before (replacing tub with shower or new tile floor in existing shower). Thanks, I watched that one. You guys dont have a video on doing a tile shower base? That would be a good video =) None the less that orange material is not for a tile shower base but for general bathroom tile floor? I will be tiling over concrete slab. and the bathroom has an existing fiber shower pan that i want to replace with a tile base.

RLSgardener You're right about the orange material...check out tile-ready shower bases instead. They give a sturdy, waterproof structure for the tile and eliminate the issues you'd have if you tried tiling over a regular shower base (flexing, rounded corners, drain height, tile adhesion, etc). That's the preferable option if you can wait, but not a mandatory. Grout sealer is applied largely for aesthetic reasons (protection against stains), so it's not the end of the world if you leave the hidden under-toilet area unsealed.
