Totally doable with all-thread. Just use grade 8 hardware n put the bearing in the freezer for 5-10 minutes. Real tools are usually best, though. Sorry for a comment 5 yes late

When riding, I’m hearing and feeling a loose creaky sound. When I tightened the cranks down, the rear wheels chain tension goes loose. I backed up the wheel and tightened, but again when riding, cranks become loose. When tightening, rear wheel chain tension goes loose. Any ideas? I’m thinking my BB is stripped possibly?

I would recommend taking it to your local bike shop. Hard to diagnose the issue without seeing it in person.

I'm currently restoring an old corroded/rusted BMX, and I've already knocked out the bearings/spacer (with great difficulty! Man that was tight!). Hopefully I didn't warp the frame, but I've ordered a 19mm Mid BB kit, but this time its much more important I don't damage it installing it. I don't have press, and I've never done this before (and prob never do it again - I'm just a normal dad restoring one BMX) so as you mention, just taking it to a bike shop to ask them to do it probably best. If thats the one thing I ask a shop to do, how much would they charge? (Approx).

I know I'm 2 or 3 years late but does the bottom bracket have to be literally flush? meaning when the side of bearing and cup is equally in ? you know what mean ?

Deebo.. You must be trying to get that squeak out of those cranks. the edge of the bearing should sit flush with the edge of the frame ideally, if it sticks out a little it's not a big deal.. as long as your chain line is good and cranks aren't offset too much. You can file down or cut the center spacer to press them in further. Hope that helps.

How do you know what length the tube spacer on the inside has to be? No one ever mentions how to determine this in any videos or how-to's. I have a Haro with a Mid BB, and my Animal BB came with a 46mm tube spacer.
@kingsrideshop6 жыл бұрын
Jason Campbell I explain at the beginning how you can make sure its the correct length. In this case the spacer is 50mm. The animal fits narrower B.B. shells. Idk what haro uses. Mainly only the two lengths exist.

@@kingsrideshop I measured the frame today. The total width is 74.3mm, and each bearing is 11.1mm. So assuming the bearings fit flush inside the frame, that should leave 52.1mm of space in the middle. So I assume I need to add another 6mm on the inside?

you can add a few spacers to the side of the tube spacer to make up the difference, doesn't have to be that accurate, just so the bearing doesn't side load when the cranks are tightened down. chain line can be adjusted with external spacers.

Thanks, it's an Eytol frame, pronounced Idle, it's our own in house brand of frames we have made here at Kings. Check them out on kingsrideshop.com or the @eytol on instagram.

I have 19mm cranks do I need to get a 19mm bb?
@kingsrideshop7 жыл бұрын
yes, the out diameter of the spindle is 19mm so the inner diameter of the bearing has to be 19mm.

kingsrideshop thanks man, I know it was a stupid question but I just started to really maintain my bikes

I have a cult gateway and i need new bearings. I have no clue what size they are. Can someone send me a link to buy 2 new ones
How does one REMOVE press-fit bearing brackets? Does it REQUIRE special tools? Can it be accomplished without special tools? Preferably with no damage (to either the frame, OR the brackets) ... I'm on a fixed income, with an extremely tight budget.

Nothing special on a BMX bike, just need a blunt punch. Push the center spacer down and use the punch and hit the out edge of the bearing on the bottom and then top of the bearing and it'll come out and be fine to re use.

that won't break all thread.

Will these bikes attract crackheads looking for a quick buck?
