Thanks for the video, I was looking at doing this to my new Santa Fe as well and curious how the plumbing was on it. Looks pretty simple, and I can take it out when I go to the dealer for service work so they can't say anything about voiding my warranty!

You should use the 3 rd port for WOT tap into air intake in front of the Throttlebody . That will give you continuous evacuation . That’s what I understand don’t know for sure but with the RX can that’s the way they explained it. Good vid thanks
@fondupot7 жыл бұрын
Yes, true you can also use a can with a third port like you mentioned. I ran my 2014 Sierra like that for a while. Thanks for watching, please Like, Subscribe and Share!

Excellent as always!!! But with the turbo, you MUST use the dual valve and both checkvalves.
@fondupot8 жыл бұрын
Thanks Tracy. I'm just not prepared to modify any stock intake tubing (i.e. drilling) to allow for a dual exit port can to work. I do plan on adding a check valve to the one exit port I currently have. But for now I am at least catching a good majority of the blowby that goes direclty into the intake manifold.
@tracylewis39268 жыл бұрын
Understood. Let me study this and can give you some tips to avoid the drilling, but as a turbo pressurizes the IM, there is very little time that evacuation actually takes place. That is why turbo inlet suction is so critical to provide full time evacuation. Get that mix of contaminates out!!

I'd appreciate that Tracy. Let me know what you come up with.

Hold on..I'm confused. If your only tapping into the hose that runs from the CCV hose, to mitigate any oil coming from the Valve Cover..why would you need to have any check valves? I suppose you're saying that under boost, the positive intake manifold pressure would pressurize the Crank Case? Also, you suggest using two inlets. Are there two CCV hoses on these engines? Is one pressurized, one not/both pressurized? Please explain. Thanks in advance.

Clearest explanation on this planet. Can u tell me if all tube and catch can intake outtake valve have the same sized diameter? Meaning if i buy a random can will yhere be any air flow problems or is the airflow at a very low pressure?
@fondupot5 жыл бұрын
Not all catch cans are made with the same size ports. So typically you need to be close to the size of existing pcv lines to avoid any vacuum issues.

You stated that you slightly modified it, what kind of modification did you make? Also, when choosing this product, they ask for the specific type of vehicle that I will be using this catch can on, which one did you select because they don’t give you the option of picking Hyundai or Kia vehicles? I have a 2016 Optima with the 2.0T engine, and I would like to install an oil catch can. Thanks you.

Great video. I'm new to the 2.0T. Do you have - or can your recommend - a video on how to change the oil? Is there anything special about changing the oil on this turbo. I always do my own oil changes, if at all possible. thanks!
@fondupot7 жыл бұрын
Patrick, thanks for the message. I don't have a video up yet on changing the oil, but I have done it on mine a few times. It is pretty easy to do. You'll need some ramps to raise the front end of your vehicle to get access. But the oil filter and oil drain plug are right near the front of the cars under body shield. There are plastic doors that pop off to give you access to each. You'll need a good filter removal wrench/tool to get the filter off, and a standard socket set to get the drain plug off. The owners manual calls for 5.07 quarts of oil. I buy a 5 quart jug and fill it up with that, and that is perfectly fine. Hyundai recommends the 2.0T oil be changed at 3000 miles and then every 5000 miles after that. Hyundai recommends OEM oil filters according to a TSB issued by them. They also recommend a synthetic 5W30 oil with an ACEA rating of A5. The owners manual recommends Quaker State. But you can use whatever oil you like as long as it meets the ACEA rating of A5. Pennzoil Platinum also fits the bill and that's what I use. I will plan on adding a video of how to change the oil the next time I have to do it. But feel free to post back or direct message me with any other questions. Cheers.

In Canada the service manual and the owners manual stipulates that oil changes are at 5,000 Km or 3000 miles (3 months) for all 2.0L motors and 6,000 Km or 3,750 miles (6 months) on the 2.4L motors. All servicing is to be on the sever usage schedule (Page 7-30 of OM). Sucks to have to deal with Hyundai Canada and no extended oil changes!
