A recommendation for those tackling the reassembly of the swing arm. I tried installing the rubber dust shields on the frame, but didn't have much success installing the swingarm. I found it easier to put the rubber shields on the swingarm, instead of the frame. Line up the swingarm and then push the dust shield boot into place on the frame. If your rubber pieces are really dried out this method probably won't work and you'll crack the rubber pieces. If they are still malleable I think you'll find this an easier way to do it.

Hi Brian, at 9:20, you mention about the need to scrap off any paint around that round hole before installing the swing arm. Why is that necessary? (got my frame powder coated recently and I want to save a trip back to the shop to have them sand blast the paint off if it’s not really necessary). Thanks!

It’s probably not the end of the world if you don’t but that is a greased area so I assume metal to metal contact is best.

Brian, The center stand stop........you said you could not find it..........Show its install please, I have ordered one for my 1970 cb350....Ty
@KeepOnWrenching4 жыл бұрын
I need to order a new one. Thank you for the reminder. it just pushes on. I’d suggest lubricating the rubber piece first thing. I can definitely show it but I need the part! Totally forgot about that.

Use a new cotter pin, they are cheap. Install the rubber snubber on the center stand before you install the stand in the frame. Use a socket or a short piece of tubing to protect the grease fitting when driving the swingarm pivot bolt in.

I know I am late to this party. Thanks for making the videos. Please, for everyone's sake, put the red Loctite away. I think you would be served well by a 3" extension on that ratchet, and 6 point sockets. The factory did not scrape the paint off of the frame under the rubber dust seal. Keep up the interesting work.

Question, my centerstand dosent have a stop welded on. Is there a different one? I have it back on but spring will fall off cause its going too far back without stop
@KeepOnWrenching4 жыл бұрын
Some do and some don’t. I believe my earlier model didn’t have a stop. Go check the cmsnl website for the schematic of the parts based on year. It’s a really amazing resource.

Hi Brian, what did you clean all your parts with?
@KeepOnWrenching4 жыл бұрын
Super Clean degreaser and then into the sandblaster. That was all repainted.

Brian, it's me again. I just rewatched this. I installed a center stand on my 1971 CL350. Someone had removed mine. It's missing the rubber spacer that you referred to. Does that have a part number?
