Suggestions, paint the wood before installation . . . if you put a shelf in, make sure you position the rod such that allows enough room for clothes hangers to go on and off with ease . . . good video thanks

Would I use the same concept you used here (attach the vertical dividing board to a horizontal section that was previously attached to the wall)? A design like this- Divider Rod for. . Rod #1. Board. Dresses. Wall --------l---------------l Rod #2. I. I --------I. Dresses. I I ----------------------- Floor

What do you do when no studs are possible even in the corners? I'm working with a closet that is breaking my brain, as it seems to have boards on the sides just nailed into the hollow drywall. No corner studs. No anchors. But it has held up for almost 40 years?! I just need to install more shelves and I have no idea how the old boards are secured to the wall properly.
@getitdonehomerepair Жыл бұрын
I would say that if it has been up for 40 years it must be nailed or screwed into a stud somewhere.
@alanshmahlen21 Жыл бұрын
@@getitdonehomerepair I am close to getting a portable x-ray machine to see what the heck is going on. I put super thin nails into the wall at every point where the existing boards have nails, and there are no studs. The only place it might be nailed into studs are the back 2 corners, because the fronts of the boards don't extend all the way to the opening where another frame would be.

question sir. so my closet has left side dry wall right side is brick. main wall for the center board has no stud because behind the wall is brick maybe 6 inches from it. weird structure of a house. but what would be good supports i DO NOT want the middle of the board bending over time because of lack of support.

Great video! How long should the screws be that are securing the pole holders in the 2x4? I'm assuming less than 2" so it doesn't go all the way through the 2x4 to the wall behind?

Yes 1.5-2 inches.Thanks for watching.

What is the purpose of angling the screws down? I noticed in the beginning of this video the first few screws were angled down just wondered why. Thank you!

I have a question. I made an assembly just as you did. I used a metal rod with a shelf and the support brackets on each side. But I also put 2 support brackets in the middle of the wall, do I really need the brackets in the middle?
@getitdonehomerepair Жыл бұрын
If the rod and shelf are long it is a good idea to have at least one support
@marylut60772 жыл бұрын
At time stamp 7:54, you skipped over measuring to make sure the rod is low enough from the shelf that you get the hanger out and rod is far enough from back of closet the hanger will hang straight
