Great step by step instructions. Amateur mechanic here and just finished this swap. Worries about the CP4 exploding are now a thing of the past. Thanks for putting together a great tutorial!

Thank you for your video! This was so helpful and detailed. Just completed my install and my comments are that the upper pulley does not need to come off. The cp4 was a bear to get out. I put the nut back on the cp4 and used a deep well 12mm with a sledge and it finally came out. The DCR going in was also a struggle, torqued the nut to 60 ftlb and it still wasnt seated. Nice mention on the video to recheck the torque on that nut after it is all snugged up. Thanks again and great job!

Have you ever tried removing the fan still attached to the mounting bracket? Seen another mechanic do it that way and wondered if you ever did it that way? Great vid. I'll be doing my 2022 in the next month and this will save me a few headaches Thank you
@thoroughbreddiesel7 ай бұрын
I haven’t tried it that way. I don’t have a problem with the bracket as much as the dang wiring harness!

@@thoroughbreddiesel Completed my CP4 to DCR swap out. If I had to do it again I would remove fan from bracket. The little bit of extra room it provides would make things better(less frustrating) Thanks again for the video, it was a great help

Any negatives to doing this swap? Does it hurt the performance or fuel mileage?
@thoroughbreddiesel2 ай бұрын
We saw a small bump in fuel mileage on this install, but we attributed that to a new, fresh up with optimal delivery. The DCR is capable of more output than a stock CP4, so the opportunity for performance is there.

@@robertgator8416 Use the crank bolt that holds the harmonic balencer on. My 2016 needed an 18mm 12 point socket. Really easy to do with a longer ratchet, just take your time and let the cylinders release the pressure as you turn the motor over.

Getting ready to do this job on my 2020 dually. One comment. You mixed up the nomenclature of the hot and cold intercooler tubes. The one in front is the cold side. The one to the rear is the hot side.
