Dave, I have installed a few of those now. Had a newer F word in a blue oval come in with a no start. Turns out, the CP4 went to the Bahamas on the poor guy. That was a stupedo expensive repair bill. After doing the repair, including a mortgage prevention kit, he had us do his entire fleet. Annnnnd added in Frantz oil filtration kits on all of them. Seems they are doing well since having done the above. The guy is still bringing their fleet to us for routine inspections and services. The best part, these vehicles are spotless everywhere, even under the hood and under vehicle. Makes performing a service and inspection a blessing! Duramax, Ram and Ford corporate engines. I appreciate you, Dave and Co.!!

@@robertmintz63 They are still available and I highly recommend them. Our shop actually installs a few each month. It is amazing how they actually flow oil through the roll as well as they do. They all have their problems, the thing is, most diesel pickups are grocery getters, it's a prestige thing, "Hey, look what I got". I have a 2007 F250, 5.4L gas, creeping up on 300,000 miles, it never complains, never breaks, just gets me where I'm going everyday with no fuss. The only thing diesel pickups ever did, was raise the price of diesel fuel, years ago, before the diesel pickup fad came along, diesel fuel was about 1/3 the price of gasoline. And 2 or 3 times the cost of changing the oil in a gas motor, along with the other ongoing issues. I already have a high maintenance wife, I don't need a truck to match

For all those complaining about Ford 6.7s or diesel engines in general, you should know a few things. 1) The Bosch CP4 fuel pump was also put on the Duramax from 2011-2016 and was used on later Cummins engines. 2) Bosch uses a different alloy and tolerances on the newer pumps, which mostly fixed the problem, which is why Ford still uses the pump. 3) Bad fuel and low lubricidity fuel is the ultimate cause, it’s not specific to the CP4; many older pumps will experience the same issues but classic truck and heavy equipment owners tend to use better quality fuels than what you get out of the pump. S&S kit is necessary for 2011-2014ish Duramax and Powerstroke engines. I have a ‘22 6.7, I plan on keeping it for several hundred thousand miles. I only use bulk fuel from my own tank and run a Cat fuel/water separator and fuel filter. This is already overkill, the S&S kit is great but even more overkill than what I’m doing.

I don't understand how some trucks have such filthy egr systems. I just did their bypass valve on my 2011 duramax. It has 175k on it so I figured I'd be in for a real mess. I was shocked to find everything was very clean. Aside from minor dusty soot covering the surface everything was very clean. The bypass valve wasn't stuck from sludge and just stopped functioning. I do use a splash of marvel mystery oil at every fillup but I would think that would make for more smoke and thus soot. As for my cp4 so far so good. I never let my fuel tank get low and use the additives.

One has to ask… what ever took out the pump has been going through the system for awhile. (Water def rust) So let’s say you find rust on your grenaded CP4 pump. With the protection kit installed it prevented shrapnel going into the high press side of the system. If there rust on the pump you can bet there’s rust down steam in the rails, lines, injectors ect… you should probably replace the whole system anyway. If not the fuel sys will Nickel and dime you to death until you do.
