My question is, can i just piggy back all of the 3 wires that are currently in the one that's there, and just run the same configuration like green to green, red to red and black to black together. And what's a decent multi meter youd recommend at a cheapish price. Cheers mate really appreciate any help 👍

Simple :) , Question : if a house already had a dimmer on a switch that you wanted to remove, could you simply replace the a single wire in place of the dimmer to effectively bypass it ? ie when switch is turned on the live current now flows straight through to the loop with no wave modulation (ie no dimming).
@meng19792 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much for this helpful content. Can I ask, once the dimmer is popped in, how do you pop it out? I seem to have difficulty with that.

Small flat head screwdriver 🪛 in from the back. Need to be careful not to stab yourself and breaking the plastic. There should be small slots around the mechanism to insert and screw driver.

Does it matter which dimmer cable you put in the number 1? Thanks, and great video.

Nope any wire is fine out of the dimmer. Aslong as the switch wire to the light joins with the other dimmer wire and is put in either the looping terminal or connector.

At your switch you will most likely have a twin active. The process is still the same you just wont have neutrals and earths at your switch. Hardactive into common the tail of dimmer into number 1 the other tail joins with white active up to light.

If you have architrave switches I suggest calling a electrician for this one because you only have limited amount of cable to play with and you would have to drill out the architrave or move the switch to the wall instead.

Its hard to say there are different ways people can connect a dimmer. If its connected like this remove the cable from the loop and put it in number 1. And remove the dimmer completely.

It is very good video! I have a question. Does Dimmer switch work with 3 LED lights? Thanks!
@allelectricalau2 жыл бұрын
Trailing edge dimmers have a much lower minimum load than the leading edge, making them far more suitable for powering LEDs. The 10% rule is very important when using trailing edge dimmers with LEDs. ... The main benefit of trailing edge dimmers is that they are able to control lower wattage loads.

Remove cable from terminal 1 and join with 1 dimmer wire in a connector. The other dimmer wire goes into terminal one. When the switch is turned on power flows from common to 1 then through the dimmer then up to the light.

That is the loop, carrying the main to the next set of lights. 2 way switching would be achieved through the 2nd switch position.
