Hey mate wondering if you could tell me how I would go about adding a completely seperate power point, is it just a matter of piggy backing off the existing one in the room or have I got to run new wires down from the roof?

Hey mate, is the double screw terminal on the earth circuit an as3000 requirment or personal preference? My sparky did not do this in my house, all done with single screw terminals.

If the connectors are the newer Clipsal ones they can be single screw because the terinamtion point is more square unlike the older ones which were more circular

Those AFL connectors putting fusion splicers on the shelf, it's funny how these companies take advantage of the resident not knowing anything about acceptance loss. I figured you lost about minimum .4 dB possibly .6, the contamination was all over plus a good tech would have cleaned out the bulkhead before insertion, regardless. If he had burned on pigtails, could have been less loss, around .2dB, it depends on what kind of upload application you are needing at the residence, so for every 1dB loss is 20%. I did not see what the power meter was reading but a good tech would have had OTDR and calculated all the loss for you to the NBN. Some facilities would never allow those AFL connectors, it's residential so, the hell do they know, If you are paying for that drop, 100% I am sure you not getting the full benefit of that SM.
@allelectricalau
@allelectricalau Ай бұрын
I agree with you mate i will be getting the join outside fusion spliced with the manufacturer pigtale to reduce the loss. It kept dropping out due to contamination of the connector endfaces. The click clean pen fixed most of it still can be improved.

How do you put the light back in? You have to squeeze those spring clips together, right? I squeezed the clips together and slipped a cable tie around them to keep them vertical. Working from the loft aka attic, after pulling the downlight through the hole in the plasterboard i snipped the cable tie to release the clips.

Great video mate. I have a faulty light switch from a house built in the 70's in AU however it looks like theyve gone with Switch #2 looping. I pulled the switch away from the plaster and noticed two reds, one going in each port (which i am assuming will go in C and the one beneath, but then there are two blacks twisted together and going into another port. Am i correct in assuming these are currently in the LOOP socket in the old light? Cant really see much on it since its such an old plug and dirty as heck. Reason for replacing is im hearing some static spark when flicking this light on so we've stopped using it until it can be replaced. Thanks

It's crazy to me how many people in Australia (myself included) are still not using full fibre. In my case it's only Fibre to the Node and I'm way too far from the Node to get speeds beyond what ADSL 2 was giving. I was complaining about my internet speed back in 2014 and 10 years later it's barely any better than it was.
