Thanks for your video ! however you forget an important point to mention that you can program this switch with your preferred setting, no internet needed for that see instructions in Lutron manual ! A second point is that you might mention that no neutral or white wire is needed for this set-up my final point is that you might mention that in a 3 way set-up an accessory switch is available from Luthron. this switch gives you extra functionality over a regular 3 way switch.

Was so happy to find this video. Thought I had it done. Still didn’t work. But inside my wall is 3 black wires so I don’t know which one is the ground one. Ugh
@buildsbymaz8 ай бұрын
Very unusual...ground wires should never be black. One thing you can try doing is separating out all the wires, turning the power on, and use a voltage tester to determine which wire has power flowing to it. It at least might give you a starting place.

great video thanks! So I do have a light switch in my house I am goign to replace today that is a single pole. When I took it out last night, it has a ground, a black, a red, and a white. What is the white for if it's a single pole?

My old dimmer didn't have a ground wire, just 2 black wires. The electrical box isn't metal. Do i need to connect the ground wire to something? It works without it but is it a safety / fire hazard?
@buildsbymaz2 жыл бұрын
I think you should be okay sine the box isn't metal. But anytime you have a metal box it must be grounded!

Hi! I have 3 black wires coming from the wall. I connected the black wire to black, and the other black wire to the red, and now I have 1 black wire that's exposed from the wall. What do I do with this one?
@buildsbymaz5 ай бұрын
Are there any white wires coming from the wall? How many switches are located at this box? 3 black wires is unusual for a single switch.
@waleed032315 ай бұрын
@@buildsbymaz its a single switch. And there is a white wire capped inside the box already
@buildsbymaz5 ай бұрын
@@waleed03231 if you look into the back of the box, how many yellow cable sheaths can you see? Normally there should be 2, each with a black, white and ground wire coming from it. You may need to separate all the wires out so that none of them are touching, and then turn your power on. Then you can use a voltage tester, to see which of the black wires has current- this will be supplying power and will definitely need to be attached to the switch. From there, you can turn the power off again and try hooking up that wire and one of the other 2 black wires and see if it works. Then I guess you can just cap the remaining black wire.

I have black and white wires where does the white wire go?
@buildsbymaz19 күн бұрын
The white wires should be connected together separate from the switch. You can see all my white wires twisted and connected together in the box at 2:15 in the video.

Hi did everything like you but my switch doesn’t work What could be wrong?
@buildsbymaz Жыл бұрын
Double check everything is connected securely, and you may need to use a multimeter to make sure you are getting current where it is supposed to be. Hope you are able to get it working!

You might have a white (neutral) wire coming out of the box in the wall. If so, you would connect those together.

Great video, but l make it a habit to not touch any bare wires or screws. Kinda like how you never point a gun loaded or unloaded at someone or something you don't want to shoot. The time you forget to turn off the power , or someone swiches it back on without you knowing or some other reason will get you lit up!
