How to Install a Front End Diverter Spout Repair Kit 300242

D&L 300242 kit installation. If you have attached the plastic piece before installing it can be carefully removed. Just don't use a screwdriver to do it like in the video, because like the person says their way it will be destroyed.
Before destroying the plastic piece, make sure you check to see if the knob on top unscrews from the rod. If it does then you will want to remove the diverter by unscrewing the knob.
Also make sure that your new diverter will fit, for some reason, there are two different styles of diverter repair kits. We have not been able to find the smaller ones in the video ever since our supplier got rid of the smaller ones.

So the little black rubber/stopper part fell out of my faucet a few months back. I was able to put it back in, but it didn't divert the water as well as before. Recently, at times, it wouldn't divert the water at all. I watched this video and was able to gently pry to white diverting apparatus part out of the faucet without break it... then I examined and realized I had put the rubber stopper backward blinded before... I flipped the black rubber so the flatter end is now flushed. I as able to put it back in the white divert part that I removed from the faucet. Once I reinstalled...bam...the water now fully diverts without any issues...so glad, I watched this video to understand the anatomy of the problem without having to take out the entire spout :). thanks a million. Being a handy man makes me feel so proud :) haha

Watched several videos on this and yours was by far the easiest to follow. Tried several times to remove my spout but couldn’t so I followed you step by step with it attached to the wall. It worked!! Screw the plumber that didn’t show for three days- with your help, I did it myself!

Awesome, after 6-7 videos that didn't really help... I watched this one. It showed exactly what I needed. I popped the white part off of mine very carefully, knocked the "plunger" part out and cleaned it nicely, put it back together, and now works like a charm. Figured if it broke while coming apart I could order a new part. Thank you so much. edit.. oh, and I lubed it up with vaseline to help prevent it from happening again.

Yes! I was struggling to get the pin into the slot. All the other videos watched either glossed over that part or somehow managed to pry it open without breaking it while holding the plastic piece and the pin! After watching your video, I tried your technique, and the pin went right in! Thank you!

The pin has two parts, the round button screwed to the pin at the top. The design make repair and replacement very easier without having to break the plastic diverter. I have not seen the pin in the last few years that are one piece. It is a lot cheaper to make it two pieces and much, much much easier to remove , replace and install. Just used two pliers to remove the top. It makes the job much easier. Be sure to remove the calcium and crap inside the spout before installing the new diverter. You can use a file and also sand paper.

You should really clean the calcium buildup where the rubber rubs on the metal, this will prevent the calcium from damaging the new rubber seal.

I did the replacement thanks to your video, however the valve does not stay in the up (shower, for me) position. The repair kit must need to be different or valve sizes are different. I found it very hard to push the plastic piece on, even with 2 thumbs. Thanks, though, I'd have had no clue where to start. The little set screw on the faucet that needed to be loosened wasn't clear/visible till I used a mirror and then looked from underneath.

It sounds like you need what we used to carry, we have been trying to find a new source because ours changed over to the annoying bigger one. We have currently had no luck there, but we are looking to get it made for us... It could take months, so I am unsure where to direct you to to get the right size... Sorry, I wish I could be of more help.

Yes, you are correct. I just didn't have a tub to do the demonstration on, and this was a requested video... So I grabbed one of the ones we sell, and tried to make a very simple video for the customer. You don't have to destroy it, you can unscrew the top part from the rod, it'll take some force. 2 pliers

Hi maybe you can try this and put it on utube take a piece of stick/ popsicle, put a arrow head and push it on the plastic tab and pull out lever reuse plastic just replace washer,I think the bigger open of washer faces you or what's your experience

I figured it out! The washer has to be flipped the other side so that it can rub the surface and keep the diverter up.

I'm sorry to hear that. The basic tub spout diverters are pretty universal but we actually carry two different styles at our store: A square one and a rectangular one... The square one is more desirable since we have found it fits in the most... If you have any questions we do watch our emails at [e-mail] . You probably have already fixed it though. I wish I had seen this comment earlier because I would have suggested buying our square style one. I'm sorry, we just don't do much with our KZbin page, it only tends to get looked at sporadically... Sorry, I didn't see this till now, but you don't need to remove the spout. I only have a removed tub filler in the video because that's what I had at the plumbing shop. Plus it allowed me to show the camera what everything would look like. It is meant to be done while still attached. Hope this helps!

What spring? The force of the water holds it in the up position. When you turn the water off, gravity makes it fall back down.
