How to install a Jack hood mount on a Jeep Wrangler JL

How to install a Hi-Lift Jack, hood mount on a Jeep Wrangler JL or JK.

How did you loosen the bolt initially? From factory, it’s pretty tight in there? Breaker bar, impact driver, etc?

Use a breaker bar and make sure the T50 is nice and snug.

I broke my ratchet trying to break these bolts. Definitely a breaker bar. lol

Great job, I want to install one myself but it looks like the hi lift jack blocks the water from the windshield washer sprayers, is this true?

It doesn't block the windshield washer sprayer at all. Everything works just fine.

You would use that Jack on those JL bumpers to lift it? Looks like it would damage it. I bent my nerf bars using it on mine

No, you’d use it to a metal surface, stock bumper is not a good lift point.

I just bought this mount...there was a light mount accessory that goes into the 2 holes in front of the mount. Upon opening my mounts, the holes are on the other side...can you put the mounts on backwards?

I believe you can. Just make sure the holes line up.

Thanks for the video. What do you think of using loctite on the bolts. I would be afraid of the bolts might come loose over time.

I installed them on my Jeep Wrangler a couple of year's ago and I haven't had any issues with them coming loose but it couldn't hurt.

How did you first loosen the hinge bolts

Is the extra strap for the base so it doesnt rattle around and shouldn't the jack be flipped over so the pin doesnt come in contact and you can open the hood or even turn the mounting around?

The documentation says hi-lift jack label up and handle towards the windshield. Everything clear correctly.

Have you noticed if your hood gets scratched by the locking pins? I installed mine yesterday and it looks really close from the two locking pins to the hood.

I installed this on my buddy's Jeep. He hasn't mentioned any scratches.

The climbing pins on my seem to come down with gravity and touch the hood after a day or 2. Have you noticed a way to keep the climbing pins from doing this? In the mean time I’ve mounted my hilift with the climbing mechanism facing up.

Does it block windshield fluids? If so, how much?

Not this kit. This kit is designed to let the windshield wiper fluids to spray directly on the windshield without issues. It's made by Hi-Lift.

I have the same size jack. It looks like it needs to be jacked up about 7 or 8 holes so it can be mounted properly.

Seems like a jack placement for people who wan't their jack to be very visible but not very accessible..... and it seems as if it could come flying in an accident.

This is bolted down pretty well and I would say the hood is pretty damn accessible. If you can’t access the jack here you probably have bigger issue.
