Trying to join a wheel to a motor using one of these couplers. Using a galvanised bolt as the shaft through the wheel. But things are very unbalanced. I'll try a HT bolt and hope it's straighter and better fitting. Who would of thought doing such a simple thing would be so frustrating.

Hi @Swenser. Keep in mind these are zero-backlash type. The types with backlash have different performance characteristics, and are far more common. If that is what you are using our advice may not be correct. You can always reach out to us directly if you need technical help. It is why we show up every day! - Chris from Ruland

Very well presented thank you. We do not place an element (rubber) between the bore(hole) of the coupling and the shaft (motor)?

I have one question. do you have to make the shafts touch or leave a gap? noone seem sto talk about this part cause I know some spring type ones need a gap and it's evenmore recommended for those to leave a steel ball in there
@Ruland5 жыл бұрын
In our style of jaw coupling the shafts cannot touch because the disc, or "spider", is solid. On our website we list a maximum shaft penetration with every hub to provide information on how far the shaft can be inserted while still allowing the coupling to achieve its full capabilities.

Spider coupling fixed with two side of shaft,after few time working coupling bolt loose and coupling hub showing gap . What the reason for that????
@Ruland4 жыл бұрын
Hi Titto. Thank you for asking. There are many reasons this is possible. The first one that comes to mind is if you are using set screw attachments that they may not be full engaging with the shaft. When the machine starts operating the screws come loose. You can always chat with us on the website or email us at sales@ruland.com for more support.

How many gap between jaw coupling and spider distance ?
@Ruland2 жыл бұрын
Hi. Thank you for asking! On the spiders we have raised standoffs which are designed to be used as spacers. Once they touch the hub, the coupling is considered fully installed. Additionally, we have shims to match each OD size of jaw coupling. These shims can be inserted during installation to assist in maintaining spacing. - Chris from Ruland
