Excellent video! A lot more helpful than the install instructions that come with the product. This is the kind of instructions the manufacturers should provide with their product.

My wife just ordered that post with the three heads. Your tutorial is just what I needed. The concrete base in particular. I just got done tearing out the old lamp post. Wish me luck!

I was raised by, and married to electricians. What I know or understand about wiring leaves me lucky to know how to turn on a light! LOL Thank you for a life lesson that I should have understood decades ago. On the really plus side, I doubt I will ever set a lamp post, but I was trying to figure out how to make a concrete post for my rural mail box ... solar tube, is it? BRILLIANT!

Hi Thanks for the comment. I call the tube a sonotube, that's a brand name that everyone uses. It's actually just a concrete tube.

@@DIYOnTheHouse My husband was very good at all of this stuff, but for the most part, he liked working alone. I think he thought he would always be around to do all this stuff for me. I really appreciate all the home making things you and your husband share with us. I have been very well provided for all of my life, and I am very grateful for those who share so willingly on KZbin - - Knowing the proper name and what the product actually is will certainly help me and the guy who is going to have to deal with me when I show up asking for a "thingy" at the hardware store! LOL

I could only dig down 1' in our soil. If you're soil it loose and soft go down at least 20-24 inches.

Thank you for the nice video you have posted. I have a question about the concrete layout, do I need to add mesh wiring to the concerts hole or just pour the concert in the hole on the dirt's?

We just poured it into the hole - no mesh added.

Great video. I need to do a similar project. But I thought the concrete post needed to be far into the ground. How is it not going to fall over? The concrete's above the frost (not in the ground).

It's in the ground. I also live in an area we don't have a frost level.

Got it! I later realized you weren't in a frost prone area, so it wouldn't matter. Such a foreign concept for me. 😂 great great great video! I will be referencing your video when I do this project in the next few weeks.

Could you share how many bags of cement and which brand you used? I am planning on doing this, but never had pured cement before, so that is the part that I need advice on. Thanks in advance!

You can use regular concrete post mix, I believe I used 3 - 60 pound bags.
