I love watching these videos. Hopefully getting a bike soon. Just got my motorcycle license Nov 2015. Ive wanted to ride since I was little going for rides with my dad. It took me until I was 30 to get my license but I did it! My question.... When I get a bike and want to put and exhaust on it, is a programmer required(ECU, fuel mapping)? I have heard mixed things i.e. "Yes you need one" or " You only need one if you do an intake upgrade as well" or " depends on the bike". Mostly just want to make sure so I dont do any damage. Thanks you so much in advance.
@RevZilla9 жыл бұрын
+the BOX1313 First off, congratulations! Now to answer your question. It depends on the bike, and it depends on the exhaust. If you're just installing a slip-on exhaust, you generally do not need a fuel controller. If you're installing a full exhaust (slip-on and headers), you'll very likely need a fuel controller. For many Akrapovic full exhausts, fuel mapping is not required, but you can still increase power and response with a fuel controller. I recommend reading Lemmy's great Moto 101 articles on exhausts and fuel management for more insight. -DrewZilla *www.revzilla.com/common-tread/motorcycle-exhaust-101 *www.revzilla.com/common-tread/fuel-management-101

Thanks for reaching out, 5TRYD4! That's a good question and Lemmy has a good answer in the link below. -Hi-Viz Brian * www.revzilla.com/common-tread/installing-an-aftermarket-muffler "Popping and lean-running issues: Generally speaking, a slip-on can be installed without needing a tune. Note I said “generally.” Depending on your elevation, bike, other modifications, and a whole host of other stuff, like which muffler you chose, you may still find a need to change up the fueling. Heck, because of emissions regulations, most rock-stock bikes right out of the factory would benefit from a fuel controller or carb re-jet, anyway. Except for a slim minority of cases, most people can get away with an aftermarket muffler without altering the fuel system. If other parts of your bike undergo modification (like later you add some headers, or you have a high-flow air filter) plan on re-tuning the fuel system."

To aim the stock mufflers more upward on a stock EX500. I've already made a custom mount in anticipation. Is there a simple extension with maybe a 30 degree bend to insert just before the muffler? I've already done some very cool alterations to the bike and think maybe angling the mufflers upwards slightly will add to the street fighter look.

I have a general question: I want to put a slip on exhaust (mivv GP) on my 1999 sv650s. After installing te slip on do I have retune or make adjustments to the carburator?? I don't want my bike to run lean afterwards
@Pocahonkers8 жыл бұрын
So I recently acquired a GSX-R 600 K6 (love it, best decision of my life so far) which had a broken and really old MIVV Suono exhaust on it. So because it was painfully loud, I just bought a brand new Arrow Street Thunder slip-on exhaust and installed it. So there should be everything included to install the exhaust. However after installing it I noticed that the pipe that connects to the stock headers seems to be leaking a tiny bit, not much but I could feel it. So now here's the question, the stock exhaust requires a graphite-gasket that goes between it and the headers. The Arrow however doesn't show that gasket on drawings and didn't arrive with one. So did I do something wrong? Do I have to strangle it with the clamp? I pulled that pretty tight already I guess. Or does it just take some time to set itself?
@RevZilla8 жыл бұрын
I mulled this over with Lemmy, and here's what he had to say: _"It's a bit hard to diagnose your install without being able to see it, and I don't think we even sell that product for your specific bike, so I can't get one off the shelf to look for you. I don't think there should be a gasket, but sometimes high-temp RTV silicone can help seal up an exhaust. Pipe-to-pipe fitment is fairly important here, and judgment is hard to supply over the internet. The clamp needs to be snug enough to seal, but not so tight that it damages a pipe. I've seen them use specs of 15Nm, which I think translates to about 11 lb.-ft., but that's a very general answer."_ Hope this helps! -DrewZilla
@Pocahonkers8 жыл бұрын
RevZilla Thanks for the quick response, you guys are great. I thought about something like the silicone already but didn't try that yet, it seems like the only option though since it's a very tight fit already. I'll let you know if it worked!

If it's a slip-on exhaust, there shouldn't be a major change. If it's a full exhaust, the bike would likely run leaner. You would be increasing the airflow without increasing the fueling. @RevZilla8 жыл бұрын
If you get a slip-on, you won't need to change your fueling, but if you get a full system exhaust, it's likely you will need to change your fueling. Whether you get a slip-on or a full exhaust, you aren't required to change your air filter. You can increase airflow if you change your air filter, but you'll need to change your fueling (with an ECU re-flash or fuel controller) to take advantage of the increased airflow. If you want to change the stock exhaust without having to change anything else, just get the Akrapovic Titanium slip-on. If you want to spend a lot of money to add only a bit of power to a small bike, then get a full exhaust, air filter, and fuel controller. -DrewZilla

SIR I WANT TO ASK YOU IF I CHANGE MY BULLET CLASSIC 350 EXHAUST FROM ORIGNAL TO A FREE FLOW AFTERMARKET SILENCER FOR LOUD SOUND , WHAT WILL BE THE EFFECT ON ENGINE...WILL IT RESULT IN SERIOUS ENGINE PROBLEM OR THE EFFECT WILL BE NORMAL AND JUST EFFECT THE ENGINE LITTLE BIT IN THE LONG RUN. PLEASE GIVE YOUR VALUABLE ADVICE. PLEASE
@RevZilla9 жыл бұрын
+Samrat Singh If it's freer-flowing, the engine will likely run leaner, that is to say there will be more air per given amount of fuel. This makes the engine run hotter and can damage the engine in the long term. If your engine is carbureted, you would need to increase the fueling to make it run richer. If it's fuel-injected, you would need to somehow alter the ECU. -DrewZilla

THANK U SIR FOR UR VALUABLE ADVICE ,,, MY BIKE IS A CARBURETED ONE (RE CLASSIC 350) SO IF RE JET THE CARBURATOR , THEN DAMAGE IN ENGINE CAN BE PREVENTED OR NOT ,,,OR IT WILL DAMAGE THE ENGINE THEN ALSO ???
@samratsingh68999 жыл бұрын
SIR WHAT IS RE JETTING ,IS IT THE SAME TO INCREASE THE FUEL, WHICH U HAVE WRITTEN ???
@RevZilla8 жыл бұрын
+Samrat Singh "Jetting" or "re-jetting" means to optimize the air/fuel-ratio by adjusting or installing different carburetor jets. In your case, I recommend finding a knowledgeable Enfield mechanic to help you tune your engine. -DrewZilla

Im having trouble getting my V&H 2-2 Straightshot muffler on. How much strength should I use without risk to break things? Feels like theres like 1/16 inch difference between the two pipes. Bought as full system so it should be correct muffler but still not working without excessive force
@RevZilla5 жыл бұрын
Sometimes it can take some muscle to get everything to fit, but also be sure to follow the instructions for the order in which to tighten everything up. Otherwise, the pipes will be out of place. Also, it's a bit hard to diagnose an issue over KZbin, so apologies is we can't provide as much help as we'd like. -DrewZilla

@@RevZilla I manage to fix it. After measuring we found out that it was a 0,9mm difference so I kept it straight and my friend pushed like a gorilla and then we could get them together. Rest was walk in the park. Thanks for answer and keep up these awesome videos!

Hay buddy, I changed the slip on for my En500 (20 year old stock rotten from the inside 😭) the issue I have is that when I decelerate there is lots of pops and bangs coming from the exhaust, I'm assuming it's from lack of back pressure, would you have any suggestions to overcome this issue? Cheers dude 🤘😎👍

You probably should tune your carburetor. -DrewZilla

So you find a leak at the joint… then what?
@FabioKastro5 жыл бұрын
What can i do if there's a leak?
@RevZilla5 жыл бұрын
First step is to try to identify where the exhaust leak is. Then disassemble and reinstall, making sure all pipe connections are seated properly and properly tightened. If that doesn't resolve the issue, then you might need to reinstall using a bit of exhaust sealant for the leaking connection. -DrewZilla

is it plug and play or should i change the map?
@RevZilla7 жыл бұрын
If you just install a slip-on, you likely do not need to change the map. If you install a full exhaust (including new headers), then yes, you need to change the map. -DrewZilla

what can i put on a cb125f?
@RevZilla8 жыл бұрын
Since the Honda CB125F was never brought to the US, we do not carry any parts for it. However, you should be able to track an exhaust down if you check with a supplier in your area. -TeamZilla AJ

what kind of Muffler would work for a 1969 honda sl90
@RevZilla8 жыл бұрын
That's a pretty specific muffler and heat shield, so unless you're willing to do your own fabrication, you'd probably want to stick with the stock muffler. -DrewZilla
