Thank you for the nice video. Last year got some throwover bags for my Stryker and didn't have the brackets like you got and they sagged into my belt guard and had to replace it and even busted a hole at the bottom of one. Got some brackets and gonna slap those on so I could have luggage options on my ride. Ride safe
@chaparralmotorsports3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching. Yeah there are a lot of throw over bags out there, but to really be safe and keep your bags/bike from getting messed up, having brackets or some type of support to keep them from sagging into the bike is best. Enjoy your new setup.

Good morning question what fiberglass saddlebags work on a 2011 Heritage Softail Classic without having to change the backlights and predrilled holes thank you Stan
@chaparralmotorsports2 жыл бұрын
Sorry, not sure. We are not a Harley Dealer so we are not familiar with fiberglass aftermarket bags for that model.

I have an sv650 and my bags are Rapid Transit. They have two Velcro straps for the yoke. Is it ok if the front one is outside of the rear seat as I don’t think I can move the bags further back or if it wouldn’t damage the locking mechanism having so much tension on it. It’s about a 1 1/2” - 2” wide strap so it’s not likely to pull apart
@chaparralmotorsports2 жыл бұрын
Hello, without looking at it first hand, it's hard to give a definite answer. But if it mounts securely and doesn't interfere with anything or look like it will damage the surface of your fender, then it seems ok.

What protects the paint on the rear fender for times when you want to remove the passenger seat? I have custom paint on my Harley -Davidson and dont want the rear fender all scratched up.
@chaparralmotorsports7 жыл бұрын
Hi Will, placing a soft cloth between the fender and saddlebag yoke should help protect your custom paint.

So I've not been able to find a video where you install throw over bags without a back, do I really have to go by a passenger seat luggage rack just to secure throw over bags. is I possible can someone throw a link my way,
@chaparralmotorsports3 жыл бұрын
Hello, sorry we do not have a video of that setup but it can be done. Just be sure to use some kind of pad or protection between the saddlebags and fender to keep the bags from marring/marking up the fender. Also be sure to secure the bags so they don't move around or drift into the rear wheel.

You showed some tools that is needed to install the saddlebags, but I didn't see they getting used in the video. Are they not necessary?
@chaparralmotorsports9 жыл бұрын
+Sreeraj Kalappurakkal I'm not sure that I understand your question. The only tool shown was a T-handle, which Eric used to remove the rear seat. The saddle bags shown did not require support brackets because they have a hard backing. He recommended a few brands that make supports if you were installing soft bags. Hope this helps, thank you.
@rajb2r9 жыл бұрын
That makes sense now, so if I buy a saddle bag with hard backing, I need not get any extra parts to support it. Do you have any recommendations for a good Saddle bag? I ride a 2014 Triumph America
@chaparralmotorsports9 жыл бұрын
+Sreeraj Kalappurakkal I would take a look at Willie and Max, Tourmaster and Mustang products. They are very popular and have a great assortment of bags. I would also recommend that you measure you bike to see what size you'll need. Additionally what type of style.

@chaparralmotorsports8 жыл бұрын
Hi! on the right side of the bike, just below the seat, there's a key hole. Use the key to your bike and it should be just a quarter turn. The seat will then pop off the latch

correct me if I'm wrong. saddle bags only attach by the tension of the rear seat and the 2 mounting points on both sides?
@chaparralmotorsports7 жыл бұрын
Essentially yes. The yoke of the saddle bags is locked in by rear seat, the bags are supported by the bracket and the straps are looped through secure areas on the bike. Unless the storage bags are hard cases, this method for mounting is used across the board.
@Grizzlytactics917 жыл бұрын
Chaparral Motorsports I guess the bracket part is what's confusing me. my saddle bags are flat. do I drill holes in them?
@chaparralmotorsports7 жыл бұрын
No don't drill through them. What type of bags do you have and for what bike?
@Grizzlytactics917 жыл бұрын
Chaparral Motorsports they are a set of universal fit I got from amazon, let's see if I can post a link. Motorcycle Throwover Saddlebags Plain with Locks Slanted Saddle Bags amazon.com I have a Honda shadow 1100cc 2002
@chaparralmotorsports7 жыл бұрын
Ok got it. So, the brackets are an extra safety measure to prevent the bag from sagging into the wheel as mentioned at 1:08. The bag simply rests on the bracket and is essentially a stopping point. On your Shadow 1100 , the wheel is completely exposed so it might be a good idea to install them.
