My 20 something year old L110 makes for a difficult change of belt. There is no way the bolts on the guides (at 7:22) were going to budge. The rust welded them tight (they would have broken had I used the airtool). Watching you bend the one guide back, gave me the idea to use a wedged screw driver to coach enough space to get the old belt out and the new belt in. Thank-you so much for your video. Took the stress right out of the change of belt that should have happened 3 to 4 years ago. lol.

I installed a rebuild kit on my L110 mower and afterwards when I started the mower the blades were always engaged and I could not understand why. After watching your video I realized that I installed the brackets for the cable backwards which caused the cable to be REALLY tight to the point that as soon as I started the mower the blades were engaged. Thank you for your video. You did a good job at explaining the belt replacement.

Very good, you explain it very well, I recently put a new belt on my LA115 John Deere, after getting it back on I mowed about 3 mins. and the belt came off and ruined the new belt. The 1 mistake I made watching your video, was I hooked the spring over the top of the idler arm, not from the under side. I just watched your video as well as one more and both said to hook the spring from the underside of the idler arm. I guess that was the only thing I did wrong.

You only have one hand, I'm 62 and recovering from hip surgery! Your video was so clearly filmed, you carefully explained each step and left nothing out. There was a liberal application of bolt release and a few tiny taps with my hammer to get the little pulley's nut loose. My tractor is a 105 so me and the left pulley cover had a bit of disagreement about if it was going back in. I won. You gave me confidence that I could make this repair. To remove the plastic cover you said 10 mm bolts? How long are they? Mine was missing the cover and the bolts and I want to replace them.

Hexagonal Flanged Head Self-Tapping Screw, M8 X 20 John Deere Part Number: GX22456. You use a 10MM socket to remove the bolts.

On D105 Series it look like it has 2 belts. Upper and lower. Would you tell me more about that. Thanks.
@JohnsonsSmallEngines2 жыл бұрын
Upper belt would be the transmission belt and there is only one on the mower deck. That is if the mower deck is the original 42” mower deck.

The bracket that holds the blade engagement cable, I need to replace one of the 10mm bolts (bought mine used and there's only one), I was wondering if you knew their length? Great video by the way!
@JohnsonsSmallEngines7 ай бұрын
I do not but I would suggest going to a John Deere parts lookup and get the part number for the bolt, then look up the John Deere part number on your web browser and see what comes up. Sometimes you be able to find a cross over that will show you the size.

Great video! I have slack in my belt and I can't figure out why. My LA 135 has plastic covers, which I hate, because the last time my belt broke, it destroyed both of them. so I've been running with them off. Last time I changed my belt I just snuck it on.
