This should be the GOLD standard of how to make a DYI video. Thank you so very much for an EXCELLENT tutorial.
@maineprophetic92729 ай бұрын
Straight and to the point. Great disclaimer you slipped in there. "Don't drink or lick the water" Its a shame we still have to tell people this in 2024. Great vid. THIS is how a DIY should be done. No senseless banter. And, the instructor talks to his viewers clear and goes step by step explaining everything every part and optional parts if needed. Someone on here called this video the gold standard for DIY vids. I agree.

2 things to be clear about on doing this type of install/upgrade. 1. Unless it specifically states it on the label that it works with rubber or plastic, do not use Plumber's Putty on anything other than metal drain flanges (Even though you mentioned it at the beginning, I noticed that you skipped this step in the video). 2. Before turning on the hot and cold water for the first time, remove the aerator so that any debris will not clog the aerator.
@IamSlacker2 жыл бұрын
Good point about the aerator! Glad I saw this before getting started.

I've replaced several faucets and had never thought of this! Good point. :) Sometimes washing machine hoses can become clogged, and the water will only drip into the machine, based on this same premise. :(

Thank you so much! Seriously, I wish I could give you a million dollars! I don't know if it's because I just got off an 11+ hour shift or if I'm just dumb today but I couldn't for the life of me figure out how to get the waste pipe to attach back to the bottom of the new drain stopper. I'm like, "It's basically adult LEGO for cryin' out loud! How hard can this be?!!" After many words that would make even sailors and Cthulu blush I watched your video and finally figured out how to place the rings and expanders. You were the only one to show that level of detail and without it I would not have been able to do it.

I'd recommend replacing the water lines. They are under pressure and you don't want an old water line to rupture later. Water lines use compression fittings, so plumbers tape isn't necessary. Attaching the drain pipe to the flange and sealing the flange to the sink wasn't shown. You'll need either silicone or plumbers putty, I prefer silicone for several reasons. Also ensuring a good seal at the under sink gasket is critical. The plumbers tape here is essential.
@yangchen7982 Жыл бұрын
Thank you for being so clear and concise. This is like the sixth video I watched and the other ones were pretty confusing.
@atom069 Жыл бұрын
You guys are brave for not using any silicon on the reinstall of the drain. As said by others, plumber's tape is not really needed for faucets made after like 2010.. but if you're not going to seal the drain with silicon, you'd better do something.
@ayeshanasir99164 жыл бұрын

How did you cut them off? Did you have to buy new lines?
@yvetteprice40984 жыл бұрын
@@TheGhjbkl We have PVC pipes that bring the water to the sink, our old faucet had brass pipe supply lines connected to the valve I had to use a pipe cutter to cut the brass pipe and remove the old faucet. I also had to cut the pvc and replace the old valve with a shark bite valve then attach the new supply lines to that.

Great video. You explained steps very well. However be prepared to replace this faucet in 2-3 years. This exact faucet was installed in newly purchased “flipped” home and all the black finish crumbled off. So unless you don’t mind a gray plastic faucet in 2-3 years, invest in something with better quality.
But also, please take off the aerator and run the faucet *without it* for a minute or two to clear it out without plugging up the new aerator!!
