I learned many new concepts in just three minutes. Excellent video. Thank you for making this.

Why was the mail box not facing the street....ugh oh

Think about it. Makes perfect sense to have it like that when your house is on a main road where there's traffic coming through all day long.. this makes it more practical for you to get your mail without having to get too close too the street as cars are whizzing by..

@@MrMisterChiliPepper88 This is a residential street where the mail carrier delivers on foot. It only needs to face the road if they are delivering it by vehicle.

I've been all over the country. I have never seen a mailbox post set parallel to the road. They have always been set with the door facing the road for easy access. Truly weird.

I think he put it in the wrong way that's why the video stopped so abruptly 😬😬

Maybe the postman walks to deliver mail in that neighborhood. That’s the only thing that makes sense. 😮

You want your mix to be above ground level so it doesn't rot so easily where it meets the ground. It'll get you several more years

I used Quickcrete fence post concrete in the "RED" bag, It set up within 10 min of mixing and then I could not pour it because it was not pourable. On another project I poured the dry cement mix and added water, the next day I could move the 4x4 around so I used regular concrete on the rest of my beams and guess what, it is solid. If you have time to set your post properly overnight, Use regular concrete

I never used any. Took over 20 years and over a hundred whacks from the snow plow drivers. Debating on doing it right this time, as replacing mine will be easy since I don't have to dig out concrete.

He’s right. USPS recommends you don’t use concrete in case a car hits it

The clamping thing just doesn't compute for me. I'm not the brightest bulb, in full transparency and I'm about as hand as a foot, so take my comments with a grain of salt.

You clamp the two beams/boards to the post so that the long ends of those pieces can rest on the first ground and help hold the post in place and upright while the cement dries. You might be able to use other method to do the same, but this seems easy enough. Now days though you could use fast drying cement intended for posts like this. They harden in like 10 minutes, so you could just stand there holding the post in place.

@Faladrin Thanks for taking the time to reply! Great advice. Fortunately I figured out a process that worked. And yes, quick drying cement saved the day!
