How did you go? So easy to cut yourself. For those who don't know there are right hand and left hand snips for cutting to the left or right. Also some snips have a kind of toothed edge. This makes it grip the material a little so it doesn't slip and you don't have to push so hard.

Cenyrifical force and the design means they dont leak. As the wind blows the turbine the internal fan extracts the air from the roof. In heat the air is expelled by covection so keep it high on your roof.

@@Dave-co1cv Not to the whole sheet below the cut and in the gutters though, I'm just saying that as a fully qualified carpenter - if I hear apprentices or labourers using a grinder or sabresaw on a new roof, they get a stern warning. But, you do whatever you want to your roof when installing. Just looking out for you if you maybe hadn't experienced it before.

@@timothyjohnson3176 So why not simply blow the shavings away once the cut is complete? This should be done regardless of a potential rust issue. If you want a good, clean, accurate cut a metal roof....use a Saber saw.
@timothyjohnson31763 жыл бұрын
@@Dave-co1cv Blow the metal shavings where, into the gutter? To another part of the roof? When you use a saw or grinder, the swarf heats up enough to stick itself to the colourbond coating, and even if it isn't coated you can't see all of the miniscule pieces of metal you've left. Simple and quick isnt always the best solution. Also why would you use a recipro saw when there's the potential for say cutting into live wires in the roof. You keep fighting this good fight, I'm going to just take the win knowing I'd get more repeat clients.

Jeez you went to town on that tin roof why not just drill a hole to start the cut? Then you left the tin exposed to rust after hammering the hell out of it.
@dennisperrie3 жыл бұрын
Using the hammer removes any need to clear off the swarf. The bit i hit with the hammer was cut out with the snips which is how it should be done. You can also start your hole with drilling aswell if you are not confident with a hammer.
