I'm building a Sig Astro Hog and I'm a bit concerned about the thickness of the Balsa Elevators being able to enclose the full length of the 1/8" Robart Hing Points. Not sure if the back end of the hinge can safely be sandwiched in the tapered center without it popping out somewhere. FYI, I will be using an X-Y Adjustable Drilling Stage with my Drill Press, so at least I'll be sure to drill an accurately centered hole in the Elevators. I'm just not sure if they're thick enough though. Let me know if you think I should clip off a couple of barbs of the back side of the hinge. FYI, the Elevators are made from 1/4" Tapered Balsa with pre-rounded Leading Edges. I would send you a side view photo if I could, but I don't see any way to do that on KZbin.

at 5:00, and What demographic are you 'aiming for', with this series of videos. ??? personally, i would be (more) interested, if you showed people how to Fabricate a Good hinge; from relatively common materials. eg., steel wire, etc. that assumes, of course, that YOU know how to do that. cheers googletranslate

Dear Tom. The plane I'm building now does not have balsa sheeting on the stabs. Just the frame work. then you cover it with what monokoke, ultracote etc... I'm not a big fan of the CA hinges the kit came with. It has the V shape sticks in the stabs like the one your building. If I build backers all the way across to where it ties into the framing. Can I still use pin hinges? I have 5/16 or 7mm of wood thickness to work with. PS, send me one of them RC Plane Lab hoodie's.. XL. Thank you. Donnie.
