Is there any way of being able to fit a sliding door WITHOUT removing the plasterboard ? The previous owner fitted on which is just a top track and a guide at the mottom, and the damn thing haas just about fallen out.

Would be a tricky repair, maybe you can just remove one side and patch that?

How are you going to remove the studs where the door is to slide in without damaging the plasterboard?

You could have left plasterboard on in bedroom

+Zach Miller , Hi Zach, it's an architectural feature that they have throughout the rest of the house, that's why I had the custom cavity unit made to accommodate such a large door.
