I bought this shed this week, and built it with my 15 year old daughter. She held the sides for me ! This video was a god send and easier to refer too, than the instructions. It all worked out straight forward. The only annoying thing was the music in the video ! Thanks Simon.

This video was useful to me for building 12x6 shed. Very helpful. Loads of screws supplied so you won’t run out. Very happy with my shed. However when I was sat on the roof to put the nails for roof felt, the roof sunk. Other than that I m quite happy and glad I bought this on January sale. Best priced and great value

I got delivered my 10x8 shed today and I can assure anyone it did not go together like he does it in this video. Numerous issues parts the wrong length, other parts not even lining up correctly and yes I got it square as much as physical possible. I have managed to fix most of the problems as luckily I am an engineer with a lot of kit, but for the price I was expecting a bit better.. Maybe I just got unlucky so tried contacting Powersheds customer service number, lady asked me to email photos of problems which I did immediately, no further response all day. Even a quick phone call to address the issues would have been nice but nothing. I'm happy for all the happy customers Powershed has, fair play but my experience has been sub par for a shed that cost what ours did. I'd appreciate if someone from Powersheds could at least take the time to respond to my email, time will tell.

Thank you for this video, it helped immensely as I was able to put my shed together by watching it over and over. Ours was a windowed 4x6 Power Apex Shed with the door in the gable end and placed to the right. Its a solid build and well worth the money spent. I coated the underside of the floor with three coats of No nonsense yacht varnish. We're happy with the finished shed however there's a few things which I'd like to flag that I hope might help others 🙂 Feedback: 1. The pilot drill bit supplied shattered into pieces not too long into the build. 2. Screwing the top and mid ends of the panel with the window to the side panels was almost IMPOSSIBLE because there wasn't enough room for a power tool or screwdriver to push a 50mm screw & in at a right angle because the supports which keep the window panes in place prevents this. I noticed this part wasn't shown in the video, so I ended up going in at a very shallow angle and praying the wood wouldn't split 😀. 3. The roof panels didn't extend past the gable top to allow me secure the felt to the underside as was demonstrated in this video. Not sure why as I followed the installation instructions to a T, I ended up tucking the felt behind the bargeboard and trimmed the excess away. 4. Some of the nails securing the floor boards to the joists were off centre and protruded through the floor joists. I had to put in some nails at right angles to secure a couple of these manufacturing defects.

Thanks for the detailed feedback and apologies for some of the issues. Just on point 3 to re-assure you had not done anything wrong... there is no roof overhang on the 4x4 and 4x6 models. I am pleased you're happy with the finished shed but take on board your constructive feedback.

A good video, this helped me out and refreshed my memory whilst building this shed. A very good design shed, as you can build it to suit how you wish to gain access or gain natural light if you got windows. It is good wood , well made. I don't understand why you have some idiot give you a down vote on a video which clearly shows you how to build the shed you have bought. Fair play to your shed builder, making this up on his own. It took me 3 hours to put up a 10 ft x 6 ft shed with my wife helping. Your drill bit was rubbish though, as soon as to put it to the wood and started the drill, the drill bit broke in to 3 pieces..lol. !

Do you have any tips to stop Ivy growing through the slats? This shed will be close to an Ivy covered wall.
@powersheds Жыл бұрын
Ivy can be very damaging to structures over time, including garden sheds. If you want to stop ivy from growing through the slats of a garden shed, here are some steps you can take: Manual Removal: Begin by manually removing the ivy from your garden shed. Be careful to remove as much of the vine as possible, including the roots, to prevent regrowth. Use a Weed Killer: If the ivy is particularly invasive or has a well-established root system, you might want to consider using a systemic herbicide or weed killer. Make sure to choose a weed killer that's safe for the surrounding plants and wildlife, and follow the instructions on the packaging. Keep in mind that it may take several applications over a period of time to completely kill the ivy. Always be mindful of the safety considerations when using chemical weed killers. Block the Entry Points: If there are specific slats where the ivy is coming through, you could consider using a non-toxic, organic barrier like a sheet of heavy plastic or landscaping fabric. This can be stapled or nailed to the interior of the shed to block the ivy from getting through the slats. This should be done after the ivy has been removed and killed. Regular Maintenance: Keep a close eye on the shed and regularly remove any new ivy growth as soon as it appears. This is especially important in the growing season when the ivy can spread rapidly. Plant Competition: If possible, you might consider planting other fast-growing, less invasive plants that can outcompete the ivy for sunlight and nutrients. Remember, if the ivy has been growing for a long time, removing it may leave your shed looking bare or expose damage that the ivy has caused. If this is the case, you might need to consider repairing or repainting your shed once the ivy has been removed.

I’m putting together a 20 x 8 size. Regarding the floor panels ( 10 to nail together) how can I turn them over once nailed together? Is it easier if I did two together then flip them over?
@powersheds9 ай бұрын
Yes we would recommend doing this in two or three sections rather than trying to turn a whole 20x8 floor over. You can then screw them back together by screwing through the top / sides but an an angle

We have known installers or customers get on the roof to clout nail the felt but we would advise to try build your shed slightly away from a fence so you can fit down. Another option is to install the shed a little bit out and then a couple of able people can push an empty shed back into position, depending on the size.

@@powersheds We have a concrete pad do we still need to put a wooden base on top of that?
@powersheds4 жыл бұрын
E46Lewis providing the concrete base is firm and level the shed can go straight on to that. However, if you feel water is likely to pool around your shed depending on it’s location in the garden etc, lifting the shed further off the ground with a base kit will of course maximise the longevity of it.

Hi - thanks for the message. You would do this in two halves and then when both halves are turned back over the correct way, you can simply screw them together from above and at each side by screwing at an angle.

How many rolls (which come in metres) of roof felt is needed for the various shed sizes which typically come in feet (e.g. 8ft x 6ft) and what type/brand do you recommend? Do you recommend sealant for small gaps? If so, what type?
@powersheds3 жыл бұрын
We have many different sizes of sheds (so too many to list each felt requirement for every size). However, for an 8x6 shed we would typically send a 16ft piece of felt which is 1m wide (and this is cut into two 8ft pieces). Then we also send an 8ft piece of felt at 0.5m wide for the ridge. We would recommend a polyester backed felt rather than a rag / sand / paper felt. You should not need to seal felt providing it has been felted correctly. Another option is EPDM rubber roofing which comes with adhesive. Hope this helps

I'm building one in a few weeks on a concrete base. Would you recommend stapling some plastic sheeting under the base to act as a damp proof course?
@powersheds3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the message. If you just staple plastic sheeting, it may hold water - therefore if did want to do this you would be better purchasing some actual damp proof course. The floor on the shed has floor joists pre-attached to the floor lifting the shed off the ground. If you feel rain water is likely to pool around your shed floor and then you may want to lift it off the ground further... here you could purchase one of our base kits or just use additional timber bearers to lift it off the ground (laying them in the opposite direction to the floor joists). If you don't think water is likely to pool around the floor or base then you can just sit it straight on concrete. Of course a damp proof course, if done correctly, will help the floor long term - as will re-treating the underside of the floor prior to assembly. However, I would not recommend putting plastic sheeting under. Hope this helps

With a concrete base should I be utilising a barrier between wood and concrete to prevent rising damp?
@powersheds4 жыл бұрын
Hi Chris - not many people would do, but you certainly can. I would assess whether it's likely water will pool around your shed (depending on the position of it in your garden). If water is likely to pool around your shed you may wish to lift it off the ground further with additional bearers or a base kit. If water is not likely to pool around the shed then most people would simply have the shed on top of concrete providing it is level.
