Your next video should cover servicing the cartridge bearings, removal and installation. You did a good job on the disc rotor part. Most of the other tutorials slam bam and its done to show how fast and smart they are to do it. You don't skip over the steps. New subscriber.

Are you referring to the hub bearings? I could put a video out on why I don't replace bearings but replace entire hubs instead. And thanks for the subscription Hornet! Much appreciated 👍

I followed your instructions and realized this is for rear rotors only. There is a different tool required to remove front rotors, great video!

13:50 This was installed in a front hub, maybe you have a different hub that has a non-standard mount?

Good video, it will help me to install my first Disc 👍

Glad it helped. There's also 6 bolt disc brakes too but it seems like Shimano is migrating to centerlock for road.

@@pedalpowercycling My new bike will have a centerlock Disc Brake, so the video helps me to get the second wheelset ready :-)

@@marcusroesnickHi Marcus, did you end up getting your new disc brake bike? Also note that there are different axle standards so you have to make sure you get compatible wheels/hubs with the new bike. Not all disc brake hubs are built the same.

13:50 looks cool

9:15 no, the number means max 40nm which is basically saying to can jank on it like mad. No point in doing that though since it has these locking teeth. Not that there would be much lateral load anyway

Thanks, in my description I mentioned that I tightened it to 36 Nm.

I am currently running the shimano rt70 from the 105 group set. Is this disc a direct bolt on? Or will I need to upgrade the brake calipers as well?
@pedalpowercycling3 жыл бұрын
Not brake calipers but you'll need new hubs. This one is centerlock only.

Oh, no, you touched the rotor! It's ruined now! Oh, the horror....

If I currently have 6 bolts set up and there is little space between the bolts and the fork, by switching to centerlock wheels and using this rotors, the space between the locking ring and the fork should be the same? In other words, does the locking ring sticks out farder than the bolts on a 6 bolts disc does? I just ordered new wheels and I'm not sure now if I have enough space for the locking ring. Thanks for your time.

Hi Felipe, both 6 bolt and centerlock look like a tight fit on my bikes. I'll have to do a more in depth look later.

@@pedalpowercycling Thank you so much for answering so quick. I just ordered new carbon wheels, but now I'm thinking that there is no enough space for the ring. I wonder if using the 6 bolts to centerlock adapter will give me more clearance.
@pedalpowercycling3 жыл бұрын
@@FRamirez1A I don't have experience with the adapter but I do have both centerlock and 6 bolt. I don't think you'll have to worry too much. They look really similar. What wheels did you get? I like my Light Bicycle carbon rims so far.

@@pedalpowercycling Thank you so much. I got the FFWD RYOT44. Light bicycle was one of my options, but I decided to get the FFWD because of the life time warranty.

Do these ultegra rotors come in 6 bolt mount ?
@pedalpowercycling3 жыл бұрын
I don't think so, but you can choose 140 or 160mm. Details on shimano website: bike.shimano.com/en-US/product/component/ultegra-r8000.html

But I don’t have a torque wrench
@pedalpowercycling2 жыл бұрын
Yes it's hard to judge exactly how tight to tighten the bolt without a torque wrench and a lot of experience. I've hand tightened it in the past without a torque wrench and it has never come loose. I've never overtightened it either so I haven't stripped the threads.
