i watched your video regarding building the curb using 2x4. i noticed that you used 1. treated wood on first one 2. standard 2x4 - 2 more 3. waterproof with Aquadenfense 3. cover with Oatey liner 4. cement board around the curb with thinset 4. then tile this is solid protection from leaking . did i miss anything? @@simonproatl

4. Cement board around the curb with thin set and fiberglass mesh (wrap entire curb or a least all seams with strong 2" fiberglass mesh). 5. 2-3 Layers of Waterproofing Membrane. 6. Tile (shower floor first and grout it then shower curb and shower walls) Good Luck! You Can DO IT :) @@vinhgolf

I really appreciate your videos. They are visually easy to follow and that is something often missed with other videos. Thank you! I do have a question about something you said around 7:30 of this video: Do you install the floor tile first, then the wall tile, then last the curb tile? Is that what you were saying? Thank you!!!!

Shower floor first(install tiles and grout it) then curb and walls. You want shower walls tiles overlap the curb tiles. Thanks for watching :)

Do you need to leave a gap between the marble sill and curb tiles and grout it afterwards? Looks like you just put it straight on tiles edges without leaving any gap.
@simonproatl28 күн бұрын
I install it on top of the tile with minimal gap. But you can have up to 1/8 gap. If you install top sill flush wit the tile it looks better to have smaller gap. If your sill overhang the tile wider gap is less visible. Thanks for watching :)

Do you have a link to the nano glass you used for the curb?
Great video. Trying to follow your foot steps. I noticed you did not leave a little gab between the curb tiles and shower floor tiles. Should there be at least 1/16 gab there?
@simonproatl Жыл бұрын
Yes. Graut will hold better is you leave small gap.

Hey, Simon, I followed your video and finished my shower curb. But I didn’t cut well on one inside curb tile, the gab between the bottom of this tile and the mosaic floor tile is slightly larger than 1/4”. Should I worry about that? Is silicon good for wider gaps? Any advices?@@simonproatl
@simonproatl Жыл бұрын
1/4" It's a large gap. If you grout it well and silicone it you should be OK. If you waterproof everything underneath you should be fine.
@AndroidTester-g3p Жыл бұрын
Thanks. You mean grout the 1/4 gap, then silicon on top of it?@@simonproatl

You can use MAPEI Silicone Caulk that matches your grout color @@AndroidTester-g3p

After smoothing out the thinset on top of the curb, how long did you wait before you installed marble top? It could take a while to cut the marble, and the thinset on top might have been dried? @simonproatl
@simonproatl Жыл бұрын
You don't want to wait thin set must be fresh. You have to cut your marble curb first then sooth out the thin set and install curb.
