This is exactly how i fitted my nets,no one suggested or even mentioned cutting the net at the loop,i just saw this as the most straight forward and gives the best looking results. but this cutting method seemed to be frowned upon by many collectors saying "you've damaged a perfectly good net blah blah,yeah well it looks awesome on display.far better than having loads of excess net gathered around the loop area,just looks a mess.i too always used a rubber or neoprene band to hold the net firm.great vid Joshua.

A relaxing & informative video, the few times I have use the Shrimp nets for my restorations, 517th PRCT especially, I've found once the net is on with the liner installed, a good rounded metal or sturdy plastic putty knife works wonders for the shoving the net between the shell & liner. That said, I'm trying your technique next time!

I'll make a note of it. However, the process is nearly the same as the shrimp net install. Place the net, use a rubber band, pull snug around the edge of the steel helmet, flip excess into the helmet, adjust, set the liner.

but can i still catch shrimp with it? ive used a paper clip to bridge the gap between the buckle and J hook so i can put the chinstrap around the back.

I have an M1 helmet with the number 609 i believe, and I couldn't find any other markings under the bream of the pot. The inside helmet liner has the dat of 1967. My M1 has the grit in the paint on the helmet but the chin strap mounts are not the welded one piece if that makes sense. Could you tell me around how old my helmet would be roughly. I have A rear seam M1 helmet the serial number is on the rim by the seam i’m asking you what kind of helmet it is because I have no idea The serial number is 1218 with no letters

Not an inner tube. I'm using a 1/2" wide rubber band that I purchased from Amazon.
