Anyone know whats the point of adding the secondary piece of pipe in? Why not slip the coupling straight onto the male side of T-piece?

How do you make the joint water tight? the sleeve you slipped over with silicon would leak.

well i,ve managed to insert a branch on a four foot length of soil pipe fixed at both ends but figure your slip ring must have been sorted for the video cuz if i wasn,t built like a brick shit house with hands any basket ball player would be proud of there is no way i could have slipped that slip ring back to complete the job :0)

It’s the rubber that creates the seal.

To stop from moving the pushfit slip coupling up and down you can put clips eithe sides of It. It wouldn't be' able to move sideways bit still be' able to rotate when the building moves (called settlment) and that's all that matters.

It has rubber seals and the pipe is not under any great pressure

@@mikiex It doesn't give me great confidence haha. I'm sure it works but something like that I would leave exposed just in case. Also what about ones going with gravity straight down as the main soil stack?

@@KilliKonKarnage They are really difficult to connect, this video makes it look easy. They never leak, unless the seal is damaged prior to connecting.

@@KilliKonKarnage It really seems like a more industrial version of what is under all of your sinks. Pipes that are just compression fit. The only reason why compression fit is allowed under sinks is because if they leak it's found quickly and easily repaired.

'A little silicone spray' .......... WHAT silicone spray? Try finding silicone spray in Toolstation or Screwfix and you won't WD40, TT 600 etc sure - But won't those attack the seal? Beside will never dry out for years. So I though water. Then thought - Yeah, you know what happens if you get water on a coupling - It leaks forever. Baffled.

@@Cortesevasive Bit Ironic. Since writing that comment I actually found Silicone spray on sale in Screwfix. SOlved the problem on one side of a joint where both pipes were new but the old one must have been fractionally different because despite wasting ages chamfering the end the rubbery/plasticy seal still wouldn't go over it. (So it took out the sael ring, slathered the whole bloody thing with Silicone sealant and so far its holding just fine).
