How To Install a Steering Wheel - 2019 Audi B9 S5 3.0t

We are giving the s5 some love this week! She's a race car now, so she needs to look the part! That's why today we are showing you how to install that sexy looking flat bottom steering wheel!
This is a pretty simple install, but please use high caution when dealing with an air bag! Hopefully, you can learn from me, and not have as much of a struggle in removing it. LOL

Did disconnecting the battery with ignition on do anything weird? I’m about to install but was wondering the reasoning for that. Personally I was going to disconnect before messing with anything, but then that would lock the wheel correct?

Great vid! Did you have to make all coding again or was it "plug&play"? I'm about to install new SW in my 2019 A5 - all buttons and fuctions are the same in both wheels and I'm wondering, if I could do that myself or should I go see my electrician to make his VCDS magic.

@FreQuQ you can definitely do this! My car wouldn't let me change coding of no heater but that was years back. It only said heater issue on start up and went away. I would do it your self, and check obd11 out for turning the bit off.

does that wire power anything other then heated wheel? my mechanic saying i’ll lose controls on the left side of the wheel

Not at all. If you lose power to the left side of the wheel, then he broke the wires going to that side. Ask me how I know. 🤔

Is there a light for the heated wheel not being hooked up ?

No there are np lights but a soft gaultcode in steering wheel module

will the buttons on a regular steering wheel work on a. flat bottom still wheel , if i do just a simple swap , i understand i wouldn't have the heated function but would that work ?

My b9.5 a5 has a 12v battery as well, after I disconnected the negative one of the normal battery, my car is still on lol , should I still keep the engine on?
