In this series we will install a Sun visor onto the 80 Series Landcruiser.
Before we do that however, we have to prepare the visor for paint, and then of course paint it.

Well done Terry.👍 Anyone would be very lucky to have a friend like you.👌✊ I've always liked the look of the sun visor on the 78 Series Troopy with the Alu-Cab roof conversation, but wouldn't thought of fitting one on my own 80 Series. Having said that, after seeing it on Jacob's 80, it doesn't look out of place. I think the fitted snorkel, flatform roof rack, and RTT helped blend the bulkiness of the sun visor into the vehicle. It complements the setup on Jacob's 80. It looks good. 👌

Jacob reports no wind noise or reduced fuel economy. I suspect this is because the front of the visor is kind of like a knife edge in the wind, and there is a 40mm gap between the roof and the back edge of the visor, so wind running up the windscreen can escape easily. I would have thought rule-of-thumb for a visor is the vehicle model must have ceased production at least 25 years prior to look cool….so in 10 years I think Terry will have one on his Cruiser..lol

As an alternative to paint for a guide coat, you can use tyre black, it doesn't clog at all.

hey legend, how are ya? I have a 78 series troop which I would like to mount a sun visor on, the one I am looking at suggest selling tapping screws to mount the bracket on the passenger side, just wondering how you fixed this one to the passenger side??

Going well mate, thanks for asking. Supplied in this visor kit were self taping screws and they were used on both sides of the vehicle. You can see them at around the 30:05 mark in the video. We were thinking of replacing them with rivnuts but then the door frame would interfere with the visor bracket so we binned that idea.👍😎
