This SO fits, it’s almost as if this vehicle was designed to have one. I mean, they were just cost-cutting, sorta thing, and put the cord thingies on instead! As for orientation, until it wears out, it’s not going to matter which way around you put it, and I’d mount it exactly how you have, because having the component that contains the hydraulic oil on the lower end, makes sense. I just realised, why some people prefer mounting it the other way…if you mount it as you and I might think ‘upside down’ with the skinny rod at the bottom, hydraulic oil would constantly be ‘smoothing the way’ for the seals? Hmm…that would be a good reason to mount these things ‘upside down’. The way most hatchbacks etc seem to have it is like you have, even though this doesn’t make sure the max lubrication gets to the seal of the damper unit? Anyway, good vid, thanks. Take care all.

I avoided all that on the tailgate screw and just put 2 1 inch 3/8 hex head self tappers 😂 spray painted them black you cant even tell and it feels alot stiffer and secure

First off, thanks for the vids. Much appreciated. Secondly, I think your tailgate is missing some parts. Too much play on the hinges even with the strut. You may be missing a bushing or the damper. My 2016 opens very soft and slow on its way down. Just thinking out loud.

Thanks Carlos! I love comments like this. I will definitley take a look. I think the dealer swapped this tailgate from another truck before I bought this one. It was a work truck and I think the original one was dented and had the LT badging, while this one doesn't.

For the ram bench seat video didnt know if you would respond to the other vid since it was a while back. My truck is a standard cab 2009 I bought the same seat but mine has one aux, one usb, and a 12v will I need the maestro box I only want power to charge my phone.

Hey sorry if you commented on another video and I left you hanging! KZbin creator studio can be weird and I don't always get every comment in notifications. The maestro allowed for usb and aux data on the bus back to the head unit (if I remember correctly). If your seat or console harness plugs in and is a similar model year I'd think it would work. Otherwise you could look up a pin out of USB and look up the seat/console pins or trace them out with a continuity meter and just run 5v to it. But finding the 5v could be tricky. At least the maestro would ensure 5v at the port but is pricey just to charge. 12v would fry most things plugged in there. Does any of that make sense?

Yeah I got the seat it in. The 12 volt cigarrete/car charger worked just not the aux or usb. My truck is a 2009 as well with an aftermarket radio only one harness had one plug in.

Perfect. I think the bracket might be slightly warped from use but nothing tangible in use. My only gripe is that in the severe cold the tailgate takes a while to lower, but just a slight inconvenience.

You didn't install the bolt on the tailgate properly. It is going to fail. Also the strut is installed upside down. Is this a troll video?

Still waiting for it to fail. The strut can face either way, the action is the same.
