I just installed a Selkirk thimble. It is round. I had zero idea what I was doing. Video didn't help me much before I did it, but it did help after I did it "not really the right way". I am really cautious if I do something like this. I got a laser thermometer to check temp in different locations. I have to now go fix my mistakes. Sometimes you just don't understand till you get in there and do it

How do you know size to buy? If using say 150mm internal diameter twin wall flue with outside diameter being 180mm, what size thimble would I buy please. Thank you

You want to get a thimble that’s sized to the outside diameter of your stove pipe. The closer the fit, the less sealant you’ll need to keep cold air from passing thru the thimble to your interior.

Never seen someone put a exhaust in with no exterior pipe . Did it vent ok?

Yes, it’s just for a coffee roaster, and it has a forced air fan to push it out.

How far from the ceiling do you have to be

That’s a good question, and I’m probably not qualified to say (for every application). I would check your local building code to make sure it’s an approved distance from the ceiling.

You could at least tell them its for a pellet stove, not a wood stove.
