Well, I want make a few comments for all of you who said this is a grate job, and also for the people who did the job 1- You never use a nonmetallic connector with armored cable, in other works, that is a ROMEX CABLE connector being used in MC CABLE 2- When you install a booster pump you are installing a motor which will vibrate when it goes ON, so I do recommend to use a flexible connection to avoid that the vibration from the pump transfer to the pipes of the house. 3- You also need a by-pass connection so if the pump damage you will have the regular pressure of water instead of no water in the house I am Alex and I am GC from NJ USA. thank you for reading my comments

Awesome catch & if I may add to your comment. I would use quick coupling fittings into the pump for easy change out. Nothing worse soldering everything and finding out your pump is faulty straight out the box or if it ever needs replaced. Also if you noticed never “even on a ground” have the insulation under the tightening screw. Should be bare wire about 1/4 inch past the terminal.

Recommend you strap the pressure tank to the wall. You can use a water heater strap .This way it secures the Tank/Pump and eliminates excessive movement when the Pump switches on an off. At the same time reducing the risk of the copper piping working it's was loose and causing a major break.

Can you put a pressure tank on a gravity flow system? My public water is gravity flow and is very low. I need to pressurize my system. I am worried the pump will constantly run and will burn up. Thoughts?
@rooster3019
@rooster3019 5 жыл бұрын
My system needs no tank (although I have the small one for the water heater) and boosts the 30# at basement level up to a true 65# in the second story. It has a pre-wired plug in cord for ground fault outlet and if it dies, the water flows right on through. The anti-back flow valve is built into it too. This one is about 5 years old and I had another that was similar that lasted 10 years until junk from a city waterline break damaged it.

Does the distance a well is from the house affect water pressure? The tank is in the basement, but they drilled the well a good distance from the house. I have a second floor laundry room, and when I'm taking a shower, the water pressure in the shower drops when the washing machine fills and during the rinse cycles. What did my builder do wrong? Like I said, he drilled the well a good distance from the house. I should be able to shower and do laundry at the same time, right?

As an electrician I wouldn't advise following this electrical portion 100%. The connection should be rated for wet locations. Use at the minimum a non metallic water tight flex to encase the electrical cable and a suitable flex connector. I wouldn't use mc either in a residential application. That generally is a commercial grade cable and more expensive....

On the other hand, you can change the settings on the pressure switch (Jim did not even talk about the switch unfortunately) to maybe 40# on and 55# off.

Only if you use more water or they raise the rates. Your electric bill will go up.

When there is a litte cut in the copper wire it is a bad connection that will break in time caused bij vibrations of the pump! ( a litte nive mark is enough!)

I am not sure about the electricians tools, no vde screwdriver and cutting cable with pliers is awkward! Bypass would have been a good idea also. I do like the 2 pressure guages though.

If only.......we in the UK have to feed the pump from a gravity tank or a maximum of 12 litres per minute flow from the pump if connected directly.

I live in town and I have 50 psi coming in and when we use any water in house pressure is satisfactory but the moment we turn on a second water spout it drops in half on both how can I balance it out so when the second water faucet comes on I have 50 psi on both?

I had a similar problem. Corrosion in the galvanized pipes had reduced the inner diameter from 3/4" to 1/4". Only solution was to replace the pipes, in my case, the whole house for $3000. Plumbers used Pex.

Static pressure (without flow) is not proportional to flow rate. If flow drops in a dynamic situation (water flowing) your pipe diameter somewhere upstream is too small or long pipe lengths can lower dynamic flow and pressure. Check pipe length and diameter upstream

Ok. Thank you for you input. I believe it's probably my main level pipes as they are galvanized and the house was built in 1900 and I have 19 parts total hard water so I've started buying all the supplies to convert to pex hopefully that resolves the issue

looks like the electrician has trouble with screw threads did your video editor want to make him look incompetent. Did the pump shut off at 60 psi as stated or was that another screw thread failure moment?
