TIP: immediately after unboxing, and before installing the other parts, plug it in and let it run for 5 or 10 minutes to make sure it actually works. This way if you have to take it back to the store, you don't have a lot of pieces to take back off and repack. I learned this the hard way.

Quick Tip: Don't want to drill holes into any vinyl/wood? Buy some double-sided foam tape. I chose the 3M brand. It's has the green backing on it. Run that along the sides of the window where the flaps close. I left a little over hang on the inside so that after I close the sides I fold the tape backwards onto the plastic flaps to get a really good seal. I hope this helps!

Most unscrew the unit from the outer shell box. They slide the air condition back into the outer shell and screw it back together It makes them feel more secure and safe when putting the heavy air condition unit into the window. This way most of the work is done first, then the heavy air condition goes in. It is easy to take the ac apart. Some ac's you have to screw the side pull out curtains from the inside to attach and have to take the outer shell of the ac off any way. Some you don't. Some feel comfortable not taking the outer shell off to save time and just lift the whole unit up themselves. It seems the only ones that feel comfortable are the ones that live in homes and not on a main level. Myself I live 6 floors up in apt. building so the sleeve came off to install then put the ac back into it. Great video!

He said that most of the weight is OUTSIDE the window. Have your helper outside to help move the unit. Since most of the weight is outside, the unit will want to drop to the ground. Doing it his way puts stress on the window as the window is the only thing that's holding the unit. A good way to crack the glass. I recommend making a support from angle iron.

If you tilt the unit please don't turn it on for a few hours. It lets the oil run back into the compressor. I also get some cheap white tape and completely cover the side pieces. And seal the top and bottom. It helps keep the cold air in and the bugs out.
@calebmurdock20282 жыл бұрын
This is the only guy who talked about how to fit the bottom of the air conditioner in the window. The others didn't make any mention of it. How to position the air conditioner on the bottom sill is part that confuses most people. The one problem with his window, though, is that it doesn't appear to be standard. Most vinyl windows have one "lip" at the bottom (not two lips in parallel), and you have to position the bottom rail or feet on your air conditioner behind that lip.
